(Thursday, December 13, 2012) -- United States striker Terrence Boyd continues to be red-hot for Rapid Wien.

On Sunday, he scored the winner when Rapid defeated Wacker Innsbruck 2-1 in the Austrian Bundesliga. Boyd outran a defender and slid to meet a low cross for the decisive tally.

He has now scored nine goals in league play and 13 across all competitions. If media reports are to be believed, he might be a transfer target on the radar of some major teams come January.

In the German Bundesliga, U.S. midfielder Jermaine Jones had his toughest match of the season for FC Schalke 04, which was defeated 3-1 loss by VfB Stuttgart.

Jones assisted on Schalke's goal, but received a red card and was ejected in the 73rd minutes for a tackle from behind in what seemed an unusually harsh judgment by the referee. Despite the many yellow cards Jones has been issued in his career, this was the first straight red he had ever been assessed in his Bundesliga career.

On December 4, Jones played the final 20 minutes in a 1-1 European Champions League road draw with French side Montpellier.

Schalke, which already has clinched advancement to the knockout round of 16, started mostly reserves, but won Group B with the draw.

U.S. defender Steve Cherundolo went 90 minutes, as usual, for Hannover 96 in a 3-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen.

American David Yelldell was the Leverkusen backup keeper.
