As always Thursday’s transfer deadline day produced great drama, as a number of clubs pounced to strengthen their squads. Here is a roundup of the biggest Premier League deals completed on deadline day:
Thibaut Courtois (Chelsea to Real Madrid £35million)
Belgium’s number one Courtois made the long-mooted switch to the Spanish capital after months of speculation over his future. Courtois was in the final year of his deal with the Blues. Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic moved to Chelsea on a season-long loan deal as part of the transfer.
Yerry Mina (Barcelona to Everton, £28.5million)
The Colombian international centre-back completed the move after weeks of speculation linking him with both the Toffees and Manchester United. The 23-year-old impressed for his national side at the summer’s World Cup in Russia.
Bernard (Free agent to Everton)
The highly-rated Brazilian playmaker joined the Merseysiders on a free transfer after allowing his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk to expire this summer. The 25-year-old has been capped by Brazil on 14 occasions.
Andre Gomes (Barcelona to Everton, Loan)
The highly-rated Portuguese midfielder Gomes impressed at Valencia earning a big money move to Barcelona in 2016. However, he has struggled to hold down a place in the Blaugrana starting line-up.
Frank Zambo Anguissa (Marseille to Fulham, £22.3million)
The 22-year-old Cameroon international midfielder has joined the Cottagers for a fee of £22.3million, subject to a medical. Anguissa appeared 37 Ligue One appearances last season for Marseille.
Luciano Vietto (Atletico Madrid to Fulham, Loan)
The 24-year-old striker has joined the Cottagers on a season-long loan deal. The Argentinian forward joined Los Rojiblancos the club from the Spanish capital from Valencia in 2018. However, he has struggled to nail down a starting spot for Atletico Madrid.
Danny Ings (Liverpool to Southampton, Loan)
The former Burnley striker has joined the Saints on an initial loan deal, with a permanent transfer costing the south coast side £18million and £2million in add-ons. Ings has struggled for first-team football at Anfield mainly due to injuries since joining the Merseysiders back in 2015.
Caglar Soyuncu (Freiburg to Leicester, £19million)
The Turkish international has joined the Foxes for a fee of around £19million, subject to a medical. Soyuncu had previously been linked with a big-money move to Leicester’s Premier League rivals Arsenal.
Filip Benkovic (Dinamo Zagreb to Leicester, £13million)
Leicester added another defender to their rank by bringing in young Croatian international Benkovic. The centre-back has signed a five-year deal with the Foxes. The 21-year-old could be one for the future for the side from the Midlands.
Martin Montoya (Valencia to Brighton, Undisclosed fee)
The 27-year-old former Barcelona and Inter full-back completed a last-gasp move to the Seagulls. Montoya had earlier in the day been linked with a move to Fulham. However, the Seagulls won the race for the defender.
Federico Fernandez (Swansea to Newcastle £6million)
The Argentinian international centre-back becomes the Magpies eight of the summer moving to the north east club for a fee of around £6million. The 29-year-old has signed a two-year deal on Tyneside.
