The Champions League has reached gameweek four, with potentially massive games being played over the next few nights. Here are the pick of those games:
Inter v Barcelona (Tuesday, kick-off 8 PM)
On Tuesday night, Inter host Barcelona at the Giuseppe Meazza in Group B, as both teams look to cement their places in the top two spots in the group.
Inter are currently second place in the group, three points behind the visitors in the race for top spot and five points clear of Tottenham and PSV Eindhoven.
The Nerazzurri have hit form of late in Serie A, but a 2-0 defeat at the Nou Camp last time out in this competition ended a three-game winning run for the men from Milan in the Champions League.
Inter have an inconsistent recent record in Europe’s elite competition, winning just three of their last seven games. Their recent home record in the Champions League is also a mixed one, as they have won three and lost four of their last seven games.
Barcelona head into this game knowing that a win would virtual guarantee them finishing at the top of the group. The Catalan giants have a decent recent record in the competition, winning five of their last six games. They have also scored at least twice in all five victories too.
Despite a decent recent record in the Champions League, Barcelona have a poor away record on their travels, as they have won just two of their last eight games. However, Ernesto Valverde’s side heads into this game as favourites to record a victory.
Juventus v Manchester United (Wednesday, kick-off 8 PM)
Juventus host Manchester United at the Allianz Stadium on Wednesday night, as the home side look to continue their hundred per cent record in the competition.
The Bianconeri have won all three of their group games this season without conceding. Another victory in this clash would see the team from Turin book their place in the knockout stages, as well as qualifying as group winners. Juventus’ recent European games have been high scoring, with five of their last seven games producing over 2.5 goals.
Surprisingly, Juventus have a relatively poor home record in the Champions League of late, winning just one of their last four home outings in the competition. Their home games in the Champions League have been relatively high scoring of late, with over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five outings.
Manchester United could drop out of the two spots for qualification if Valencia beat Young Boys in the other game in the group. Jose Mourinho’s side has enjoyed mixed fortunes in the Champions League this season, but have picked up just four points from their three games so far.
United have a poor record in Europe’s elite competition, having won just one if their last five games in the Champions League. In fact, the Red Devils have won just two of their last seven in the competition. The visitors have a mixed recent away record in the Champions League, winning three of their last eight games on their travels.
