Today is that often exciting and hectic day that is transfer deadline day. It is often a day where teams make key signings that can affect the remainder of the season. Here are some of the interesting stories doing the rounds about prospective moves:

Jonny Otto (Atletico Madrid to Wolves, £18M)

The highly-rated Spanish full-back has spent the first half of the season on loan from Atletico Madrid. However, the side from the Midlands have now secure Jonny on a permanent deal on deadline day. Jonny only moved to the Spanish capital last summer from Celta Vigo. There were high hopes about his future at Atletico, but obviously, the Spanish club decided to cash-in on the full-back.

Marouane Fellaini (Manchester United to Shandong Luneng, £10m)

The 31-year-old Belgium international star has spent five and a half years at United. However, he is now on his way to China to complete a deal after already undergoing a medical ahead of signing a three-year deal with the Chinese club.

Fellaini divided opinion amongst United fans. The midfielder joined the Red Devils from Everton for a fee of £27million and was the first player to join United after Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.

Miguel Almiron (Atlanta United to Newcastle (£20million)

The Paraguayan attacking midfielder is set to swap MLS for the Premier League after Newcastle agreed a £20million deal with Atlanta to sign the playmaker. Almiron is believed to be in the north east ahead of having medical and discussing personal terms.

Almiron has been impressive for Atlanta since joining the MLS outfit back in 2016 from Lanus. In fact, the 24-year-old played a key part in Atlanta winning the MLS Cup last season, scoring 13 goals for United.

Youri Tielemans (Monaco to Leicester, season-long loan)

The 21-year-old midfielder burst onto the scene at Anderlecht as a 16-year-old and was reportedly a target for a number of Europe’s top clubs. He made a move to Monaco from Anderlecht last summer.

However, the team from the principality have struggled for form, so the youngster looks set to move on. According to Sky Sports, Leicester are the favourites to sign Tielemans on an initial loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent deal next summer. The Sky report also claims that out-of-favour Portuguese star Adrien Silva could move in the opposite direction as part of the deal.

Michy Batshuayi (Chelsea to Everton/West Ham)

An interesting situation could be developing at Chelsea with striker Michy Batshuayi. The striker spent the first half of the season on loan at Valencia. However, he struggled for form with Los Ches, so has returned to Stamford Bridge.

Both Everton and West Ham have been linked with a move for the striker. Everton are the favourites to sign him. However, the Toffees cannot sign him on loan, as the Toffees already have Blues centre-back Kurt Zouma on loan.

A permanent deal of around £35million has also been mooted. West Ham are interested in signing the Belgium striker but are reportedly looking to sign him on loan. Chelsea are in favour of a permanent deal, as they look to recoup the £33million they spent on signing the striker from Marseille back in 2016.

Just the tip of the iceberg

These rumoured deals are just a small number that could take place today. With Premier League clubs looking to strengthen their squad’s right up to when the transfer window shuts, it could be a very busy day in the transfer market for many clubs throughout Europe.
