Sunday’s Premier League games could have a massive bearing on the title race, as third place Tottenham and league leaders Manchester City play their gameweek 26 fixtures. Here are more details of Sunday’s games:
Tottenham v Leicester (Kick-off 1:30 PM)
In the early kick-off, Tottenham host Leicester at Wembley, as the home side look to keep their outside title hopes alive for another week.
Mauricio Pochettino’s team are five points behind the top two Manchester City and Liverpool. The north London team would need a big collapse from both teams to claim the title. However, Spurs will be looking to give themselves a chance of becoming champions.
Pochettino’s team have won four of their last five matches in the English top-flight, last time out beating Newcastle 1-0 at St James Park. The win over the Magpies means that Spurs have recorded two straight home wins in the Premier League after consecutive home defeats against Wolves and Manchester United.
Tottenham are favourites to win this clash and record a third straight home win to stay in touch with the leaders.
Leicester have endured an inconsistent season and currently sit 11th in the Premier League table after a poor recent run of form.
The Foxes 1-0 home defeat against Manchester United last time out means that Claude Puel’s side has now failed to win in four league matches, having suffered three defeats in the process. The team from the Midlands have struggled defensively of late, keeping just one clean sheet in their last seven matches in the Premier League.
The visitors have been highly inconsistent away from home of late in the Premier League. However, a record of two wins from seven away matches is not a great one. Their recent away games in the league have been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last eight matches on their travels.
Manchester City v Chelsea (Kick-off 4 PM)
Manchester City host Chelsea in the late kick-off on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium, in a match that could prove pivotal in the title race. With Liverpool playing on Saturday at home against Bournemouth, City could once again find themselves behind the Merseysiders at kick-off.
Whatever happens at Anfield, City needs to record a victory to either move back to the top of the table or extend their lead at the top. Pep Guardiola’s side head into this match on the back of six wins from their last seven league outings.
The Citizens have also been prolific of late, managing at least two goals in all six of their recent victories. A record of 13 wins from their last 14 league games on home soil is also a formidable one.
Chelsea heads to Manchester on an inconsistent run of form. The Blues hammered Huddersfield 5-0 in their last game, but they had suffered defeat in their two previous matches.
Maurizio Sarri’s team have lost their last two away games in the top-flight against Arsenal and Bournemouth while failing to score in either and conceding at least two goals in both outings. The Blues are underdogs to take home anything from the Etihad Stadium and could find themselves outside the Premier League’s top-four by the end of the weekend.
