This weekend sees the last game of the Premier League campaign, which also brings the final gameweek of FPL. We feel relatively happy with our ones to watch this season. Two of our gameweek 37 picks produced big points hauls. Here are our final FPL ones to watch for season 2018/19:
Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool, £5.7m)
The youngster has enjoyed a sensational season in both the Premier League and the Champions League. The 20-year-old has not only played in the joint-best defence in the top-flight, but he has been a major attacking threat at the other end of the pitch.
In fact, the full-backs 11 Premier League assists rank him fourth in the list of top goal makers in the top-flight. Only Eden Hazard, Christian Eriksen and Ryan Fraser have created more goals this season.
The youngster has produced five assists in as many top-flight appearances. He will be confident of adding to that tally when Wolves visit the Reds for the crucial clash on Sunday afternoon.
Ryan Fraser (Bournemouth, £6.2m)
The Scotland international has been one of the most improved players of the Premier League this season. The diminutive winger has scored seven times and produced 14 assists in the top-flight. Only Chelsea’s Eden Hazard has bettered Fraser’s assist tally this season.
With reports suggesting that that the former Aberdeen star could be on the move this summer, this Sunday’s trip to Crystal Palace could be his final game for the Cherries. If it is to be his last game then he will be keen to sign off with a good display. Palace have been poor on home soil of late, so it could be a perfect opponent for the Scot the to add to his impressive points tally this season.
Salomon Rondon (Newcastle £5.9m)
The forward on-loan from West Brom has proven a handful for many Premier League defences this season. In fact, Rondon has scored ten times and produced eight assists in a struggling Newcastle team.
The former Malaga star has produced attacking returns in his last three top-flight games, scoring once and producing two assists. A trip to Fulham on the final day looks like a promising fixture, despite the Cottagers recent improvement in form.
Rondon is only on-loan at the north east club, so like Fraser at Bournemouth, this weekend could see the striker play his last game for the Magpies.
Shane Long (Southampton, £4.7m)
For so Long, Shane was something of a laughing stock as a goalscorer. The Republic of Ireland star worked incredibly hard every game. However, he was anything but a prolific scorer of goals for the Saints.
However, the former-Reading star has suddenly turned into a goal machine for the team from the south coast. In fact, the experienced striker has scored four goals in his last five starts for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, which is a fine ratio for any top-level striker.
The fact that he is just £4.7m makes him a perfect enabler, especially as the Saints host rock-bottom Huddersfield at St Mary’s this weekend, a game the home side are expected to win comfortably.
