One of the big talking points of the summer transfer window so far has been the future of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba. The Frenchman has been linked with moves to the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus. However, as the end of the Premier League transfer window creeps closer, Pogba looks more and more likely to stay in Manchester, which may have come as a surprise at the start of the transfer window.

Juventus boss unsure of the Pogba situation

Juventus head coach Maurizio Sarri seems unsure of the Pogba situation, as he told Sky Sports: “I like very much the player but I don’t know the situation. I am not the technical director.”

Juventus have already brought in a number of players this summer and spent big on highly-rated Dutch centre-back Matthijs de Ligt. The fact that two of those new arrivals Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot both play in the centre of midfield, suggests that Juventus do not need Pogba this summer.

Pogba is a different sort of player to the pair and is also higher quality on his day. However, signing the Frenchman after bringing two players in already in the same position does not make sense for the club from Turin.

Real Madrid have already spent a fortune this summer

At the beginning of the transfer window, Real Madrid looked to be favourites to sign Pogba. However, Los Blancos have since spent big money this summer on the likes of Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Rodrygo. The big buys have made it very hard for the Spanish giants to balance the books and bring in Pogba.

Reportedly, though, Los Blancos are on the verge of selling Wales winger Gareth Bale, according to Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane. Whether Bale’s sale will bring in big money is questionable, as the 29-year-old will cost any potential buyer a lot of money. The club from the Spanish capital needs to bring in money from sales if they are to renew their interest in Pogba.

Pogba could still stay in Manchester

Reportedly, Pogba is looking to leave Manchester United this summer. The fact that agent Mino Raiola is the midfielder’s representatives means that Pogba will never be settled, as he and his agent will always be looking to move him on to line his pockets.

A move to Real Madrid or Juventus would certainly mean that both the player and his agent will earn a big paid day. Although Manchester United have said they do not want to sell the midfielder, there is a sense that if the right offer came in then Pogba would leave.  The midfielder’s odds of  staying in Manchester this summer is now shorter than for him to go elsewhere.

The France international was not terrible last season for United. In fact, he was the Red Devils top scorer in the Premier League. It would not be awful for United if he stayed, as long as he did not sulk or down tools. Considering his notorious temperament that is fatigue, there is no guarantee.

In an ideal world, United would get a big fee for the reportedly wantaway midfielder and move on. However, it seems that no club is in a financial position to pull off a deal for Pogba. Therefore, he looks set to stay in Manchester.
