In the biggest match of gameweek four in the Bundesliga, leaders RB Leipzig host reigning champions Bayern Munich at the Red Bull Arena on Saturday evening.

RB Leipzig (Odds of 14/5 for victory)

Julian Nagelsmann’s team have started the new Bundesliga campaign in superb fashion, winning all three of their games against Union Berlin, Eintracht Frankfurt and last time out Borussia Monchengladbach.

Die Roten Bullen have been highly-prolific so far under their new head coach, scoring at least two goals in all three of their league matches this season. Germany international Timo Werner has played a key role in the home sides prolific form in front of goal, scoring five goals in their opening three league games.

RB Leipzig are tough opponents at the Red Bull Arena in the German top-flight, as they are unbeaten in five matches on home soil, winning four of their last five league games. Their attacking performances in the German top-flight have played a key role in their recent good home form, as they have scored at least twice in four of their last five league outings at the Red Bull Arena.

Despite a good recent home record, they have a poor recent record against Bayern, suffering four defeats in the last six meetings between the two teams in all competitions, winning just once.

Bayern Munich (Odds of 17/20 for victory)

After a disappointing opening day 2-2 draw with Hertha Berlin, the reigning champions have won at Schalke and last time out hammered Mainz 6-1 at the Allianz Arena.

Niko Kovac’s team have not only started this season well, they also finished the last campaign in decent fashion, and are now 17 matches unbeaten in the German top-flight. A trip to Leipzig is certainly a danger to that undefeated run.

Bayern have not been great in defence of late in the Bundesliga, as they have kept just one clean sheet in seven outings. With the home sides current form in front of goal, it seems unlikely that the Bavarians will improve that record on Saturday. However, corresponding fixture last did result in a goalless draw, though.

Polish goal machine Robert Lewandowski has enjoyed a fine start to the Bundesliga campaign, hammering home six goals in just three appearances in the top-flight this season.

Bayern have been formidable opponents on their travels in the German top-flight of late, losing just once in their last 12 away games in the Bundesliga. The visitors are also undefeated in seven away games.

Prediction

This could be a crucial game in the Bundesliga title race, even this early in the season. The home side have looked like genuine title contenders so far. However, this clash is a big test of their title credentials. If they record a victory, then it will create a tremendous momentum. A lose could deflate everybody involved.

This is likely to be one of Bayern’s toughest games of the Bundesliga campaign. They will head into the encounter in high spirits, though after two victories. Both of these teams tend to be involved in high-scoring games, so the over 2.5 goals scored looks a sensible bet at odds of 7/4.

These two teams are hard to separate and this clash really could go either way. However, our other recommendation is to back the draw at odds of 3/1.

Verdict: Back the draw at odds of 3/1 and/or over 7/4 (All odds from Bet365).
