Braga and Wolverhampton Wanderers are on the verge of reaching the knockout stage in the UEFA Europa League, and they’ll attempt to get themselves over the finish line when they meet later this week.

Braga are still attempting to find their footing in Primeira Liga this season, to the point where it’s not quite clear as of yet whether or not they’re going to keep putting as much effort into their league campaign as they are the Europa League – where they appear to bet thriving. They have the sort of awkward counter attacking style that is going to make them an absolute nightmare for teams all over Europe to deal with, especially if they’re able to reach the knockout stage.

Braga’s only loss in their last six games came against Boavista, although they did sustain a disappointing setback in the form of a 2-2 draw against Famalicao. Their only wins in their domestic league since late October have been against Vitoria SC and Santa Clara, although in the Europa League, they’ve looked really comfortable in back to back triumphs over Besiktas.

Wolves

The worry for Wolverhampton Wanderers this season was that they weren’t going to be able to manage their resource with a smaller squad – but given how well they’ve done in the Europa League and the fact that they’re in fifth position in the Premier League, we’d say they’re starting to handle themselves fairly well. They’ve got a long way to go before they’re viewed as one of English football’s major clubs, but people need to start recognising that they’re well on their way to becoming just that.

Fans can’t stop saying good things about Wolves, and that’s despite a few setbacks as of late. They were unlucky not to get all three points against Arsenal, they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by local rivals Aston Villa, and they only managed a draw against Newcastle. However, in recent times, they’ve been able to register three consecutive victories against Slovan Bratislava in the Europa League before beating Aston Villa & Bournemouth in the EPL.

Conclusion

The last game between these two sides was fairly dull, with Wolves being unable to take their chances as Braga edged out a 1-0 win. We think this is also going to be a fairly nervy affair given the stakes that are on the line for both clubs, but this time around, we’re predicting a draw with Wolves being able to hold their own just a little bit better than they did previously. It’s a result that, for the most part, both sides will be fairly happy with as they wait to see whether Slovan Bratislava can ramp up the pressure.

Much like the first game we can’t envisage this becoming too much of a goalfest, which is why we’re going to back the under 2.5 goals market.
