Prediction & odds for the game: Norwich (17/4) v Tottenham (4/7)
When: Saturday, 28th December 2019 @ 5.30pm K.O
Where: Carrow Road
Norwich City’s fight to avoid the drop continues as they prepare to host Tottenham Hotspur at Carrow Road in the Premier League.
Norwich
There are plenty of reasons to believe that Norwich will be able to avoid the drop this season – but there are just as many that make us think they’ll fall short. They’ve got an array of stars that are capable of firing them further up the table, but there’s an inconsistency within their team that they desperately need to shake. They always put on a show against the bigger sides, and that’s exactly what we’re expecting them to do when Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham come to town.
Norwich picked up a big win over Everton back in late November, and slowly but surely they’ve battled their way to a few big draws against Arsenal and Leicester. Alas, they’ve also had their fair share of disappointments, losing 2-1 to Southampton, Sheffield United and Wolves.
Tottenham
Tottenham are going through their own patch of inconsistency as they just can’t seem to bring themselves to piece consecutive wins together lately. They’re still well and truly in the hunt for a place in the top four, but with the January transfer window looming large, there are questions to be raised regarding what the future holds for this squad – and the manager that is guiding them. First, though, they need to focus on the task in front of them in the next few days.
Tottenham’s failure to get any real momentum going under this new regime continues with a ‘win one, lose one’ sort of mentality. They were able to edge out Bournemouth 3-2 in a thriller, they lost 2-1 to Manchester United, and then they battered Burnley 5-0. They were unable to overcome the power of Bayern Munich in the Champions League as they lost 3-1 before securing a late win over Wolves, but against rivals Chelsea, they just didn’t really show up as they lost 2-0 to Frank Lampard’s side.
Conclusion
We think this has the potential to be one of the fastest games of the season yet with both teams attacking at will until one cracks under the pressure. That could lead to a whole lot of entertainment, which isn’t often the case when a Jose team plays (based on the evidence). We think the Canaries will get themselves on the scoresheet and may even take the lead at one point, but Tottenham are just far too strong and they’re going to prove that once and for all here.
As you can probably tell we’re expecting, and hoping for, a series of goals – meaning we’re going to back the over 2.5 goal market.
Verdict: Back the away win at odds of 4/7 and the over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 8/15. (All odds are taken from bet365).
