Prediction and odds for the game: Liverpool (2/7) v Wolves (10/1)
We are backing both teams to score at odds of 19/20.
When: Sunday 29th December 2019, Kick-off 4:30 PM
Where: Anfield
On Sunday afternoon, Wolves will attempt to derail the juggernaut that is Premier League leaders Liverpool.
Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp’s team look set to run away with the Premier League title after a 4-0 humbling of supposed title rivals Leicester on boxing day. The victory at the King Power Stadium moved the Reds 13 points clear at the top of the table. The Merseysider’s also have a game in hand on their rivals.
The defeat of the Foxes was Liverpool’s ninth straight win in the English top-flight. They have also scored at least two goals in each of those nine straight victories. The home side simply look unstoppable in front of goal at the moment.
Liverpool are an even more formidable opponent at Anfield, where they are unbeaten in an incredible 49 home matches in the Premier League. Klopp’s team has also won their last 16 games at the famous old stadium in the top-flight, scoring at least twice in each of the 16 victories.
Wolves
The visitors head into this clash on the back of a highly-creditable 3-2 home win over reigning champions Manchester City on boxing day. The Citizens were reduced to ten-men with the sending off of goalkeeper Ederson, but the result was still an impressive one.
The victory showed how hard the visitors are to defeat, as the team from the Midlands have now lost just once in their last 14 Premier League outings. Nuno Santo Espirito’s side has done well to overcome what was a terrible start to the campaign.
The win last time out means that Wolves have now won three of their last five games in the English top-flight, a run which has moved the visitors up to fifth-place and just two points behind Chelsea who currently occupy fourth spot.
Wolves have impressed in front of goal of late in the English top-flight, as they have scored at least twice in six of their last eight matches in the Premier League. More recently they have scored at least twice in four of their last five league outings.
The visitors are now seven games unbeaten on their travels in the Premier League, although four of those games have finished in draws. Both teams have scored in seven of Wolves last eight away games in the Premier League.
Conclusion
We are expecting Wolves to put up a reasonable fight against the leaders at Anfield. However, Liverpool have such a momentum that they will have enough to see off the threat of the visitors.
With the home win offering very little value, one of the bet’s we are recommending is both teams to score. Both teams are potent in attack and despite being formidable at Anfield, the Reds have kept just one home clean sheet in their last nine home games in the top-flight.
We are also backing Mohamed Salah to score at anytime. It may not offer the best odds, but the Egyptian has scored three times in as many league outings.
Verdict: Back both teams to score at odds of 19/20 and/or Mohamed Salah to score anytime at odds of 4/6. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
