On Wednesday night, Inter will put aside their challenge for the Serie A title when they host Fiorentina at the Giuseppe Meazza in the Coppa Italia quarter-final.

The Nerazzurri have endured a frustrating few weeks when it comes to results. Although Antonio Conte’s team are unbeaten in seven games in all competitions, the home side has now drawn three of their last four matches. Last time out, Cagliari held them to a 1-1 draw.

The Viola are experiencing a difficult campaign in the Italian top-flight. The team from Florence is currently 13th place in the Serie A table. However, there have been signs of improvement in recent games.
In fact, a goalless draw against Genoa last time out means that Giuseppe Iachini’s team are now five games unbeaten in all competitions. Their recent matches have been low-scoring, tight affairs, as there have been under 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five games.
The Viola have been poor on their travels of late in all competitions, winning just one of their last five matches. They are, however, two games unbeaten on the road, which is a step in the right direction for the visitors.
Fiorentina have found Inter tough opponents in recent seasons, as the Nerazzurri are unbeaten in five matches against the Viola. Inter have also won the last three competitive meetings between the two teams at the Giuseppe Meazza.
Fiorentina’s chances of improving that recent record in Milan will not be helped by the likely absence through injury of veteran French attacker Franck Ribery. Flamboyant attacking midfielder Kevin Prince-Boateng also looks set to miss out due to injury.
Conclusion
Inter have not been in great form of late, but are hard to beat. Fiorentina’s form has definitely improved of late. However, we believe that the home side should have too much quality for the Viola, which is why we are backing the home win. We believe it will be a relatively tight game too, which is why we are backing the under 2.5 goals score too.
