Prediction & odds for the game: Burnley (11/4) v Arsenal (19/20)
When: Sunday, 2nd February 2020 @ 2pm K.O
Where: Turf Moor
Burnley will try and put another dagger into the heart of Arsenal’s top four aspirations when the two meet at Turf Moor.
Burnley
Burnley are the kind of team that will linger around the Premier League for many years to come – so long as they’re able to keep hold of Sean Dyche. He has been able to implement his own style, bring in a crop of experienced stars to go alongside their blossoming youth system, and even toy with European football. Survival is going to be the main target once again this season, but it doesn’t really feel like they’re one of the sides that is in any major jeopardy.
Inconsistency has been the key for Burnley as of late with three wins and three losses across their last six games. They managed to beat Peterborough in the FA Cup third round before losing to Norwich in the fourth, they picked up thrilling wins over Leicester and Manchester United, and they lost to Aston Villa and Chelsea.
Arsenal
They may have brought a few defensive reinforcements into the mix, but the real test for Arsenal is going to be whether or not they can start to become more clinical in front of goal – which you’d think wouldn’t be too much of an issue considering the fact that they have one of the best front threes in English football. Still, piecing it all together has been hard for them, and Mikel Arteta needs to be careful that they don’t slip further down the table. After all, they’re only seven points above the bottom three.
It’s been a decent unbeaten spell for Arsenal even though they haven’t won in the Premier League since New Year’s Day when they beat Manchester United. They went on to beat Leeds and Bournemouth in the FA Cup, whilst picking up a point against Crystal Palace, Sheffield United and Chelsea.
Conclusion
Burnley will want to get physical with Arsenal from early on in the game, which doesn’t exactly seem like the worst idea given the gulf in talent between the two sides. It’s going to be interesting to see whether or not Arteta can start to change the fortunes of the Gunners away from home which is where they always seem to struggle. We’re backing them to just about edge their way past the Clarets, which could be the win they need to really kickstart their season in a big way.
If they’re going to grind it out and just about push their way past a team like Burnley, then there are probably going to be a few twists and turns along the way. Therefore, we’re backing the over 2.5 goals market.
Verdict: Back the away win at odds of 19/20 and the over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 10/11. (All odds are taken from bet365).
