|

Prediction and odds for the game: Dortmund (4/11) v Eintracht Frankfurt (6/1)

We are backing Jadon Sancho to be an anytime scorer at odds of 4/5

When: Friday 14th February 2020, Kick-off 7:30 PM

Where: Signal Iduna Park

Dortmund have a chance to make up ground on the league leaders when they Eintracht Frankfurt at Signal Iduna Park on Friday night.

Dortmund

The home side threw away a 3-2 lead at Bayer Leverkusen last time out in the German top-flight to lose 4-3. Despite the defeat, BVB are still third place in the table. However, Lucien Favre’s team are now four points behind leaders Bayern Munich in the title race.

The game against Bayer was typical of Dortmund in recent games, as BVB’s matches are usually high-scoring and highly entertaining. In fact, Dortmund’s last 12 league games have produced over 2.5 goals. BVB’s major attacking threat has been the main factor the high-scoring matches of late, as Favre’s team has now scored at least twice in nine of their last ten league matches.

Dortmund are tough to beat on their own patch, as BVB have lost just one of their last 27 home games in the Bundesliga. Unsurprisingly considering Dortmund are the Bundesliga’s top scorers, they have been prolific on home soil, scoring at least twice in 26 of their last 27 league outings on home soil.

Eintracht Frankfurt

The visitors are enjoying a happy 2020 so far after enduring a tough end to the last calendar year. Adi Hutter’s team have now taken ten points from a possible 12 in the Bundesliga, including hammering Augsburg 5-0 last time out.

The form of right-back turned right-winger Timothy Chandler has certainly caught the eye of late, as the USA international has scored four goals in his last three Bundesliga appearances after scoring just two Bundesliga goals.

The visitor’s recent form has moved them up to ninth in the table. However, they are still seven points off the European spots in the German top-flight. If Hutter’s team can maintain a decent run of form then they cannot be written off completely when it comes to European qualification for next season.

One facet of their play that needs improvement if Frankfurt are to make a late dash for the top-six is their away form. The visitors have lost nine of their last 12 matches on their travels in the Bundesliga. Things may be looking up for Frankfurt on the road, though, as they have picked up four points from a possible six on their travels.

Conclusion

Dortmund have a habit of shooting themselves in the foot. Although we believe that Dortmund will not slip up this time, the odds are not great for a home win.

We are focussing on the goals market instead. The first bet we are backing is Jadon Sancho to be anytime scorer, as no player has been involved in more goals in the top European leagues than the England winger. At the same odds, we are backing the over 3.5 goals, as Dortmund cannot stop scoring while remaining highly vulnerable in defence.

Verdict: We are backing Jadon Sancho to be an anytime scorer at odds of 4/5 and/or over 3.5 goals scored at the same odds.
