Prediction and odds for the game: Barcelona (4/11) v Getafe (7/1)
When: Saturday 15th February 2020, Kick-off 3 PM
Where: The Nou Camp
On Saturday afternoon, reigning La Liga champions Barcelona face a potentially difficult task as they welcome high-flying Getafe at the Nou Camp.
Barcelona
The home side has certainly not been at their brilliant best of late in the Spanish top-flight. However, despite not being great of late, the Catalan giants have still won three of their last four league matches.
In their last outing, the Blaugrana recorded a 3-2 win at Real Betis. Both teams finished the game with ten men, as Nabil Fekir saw red for Betis as well as Barcelona centre-back Clement Lenglet.
The win means that the Catalan giants are three points behind arch-rivals and league leaders Real Madrid. The reigning champions are aware that they cannot afford many more slip-ups if they to retain their title.
The Blaugrana may not have been ultra-consistent of late in La Liga, but they have a very good home record of late, as the champions are 23 home matches unbeaten, having recorded 21 victories. A key to that recent strong home form is Barcelona’s attacking prowess, as they have scored at least twice in ten of their last 12 home matches in La Liga.
Getafe
The visitors are one of the stories of the season. The club from the Spanish capital are currently third place in La Liga, three points clear of fifth-place Sevilla in the battle for Champions League football for next season.
A 3-0 victory over Valencia in the visitors last La Liga match means that Jose Bordalas’ team have now recorded four straight league wins.
Some superb defensive displays have epitomised Getafe’s spirit this season, as they have kept four straight clean sheets in the Spanish top-flight. In fact, the visitors have managed to keep seven clean sheets in their last nine La Liga matches.
Getafe have a decent recent away record in the Spanish top-flight, winning four of their last six matches on their travels. Their recent away matches have been relatively low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in six of Getafe’s last seven matches.
Like most teams in La Liga, Getafe do not have a great record against Barcelona. However, the team from the Spanish capital have failed to beat the Catalan giants in 16 meetings in all competitions. In fact, the visitors have lost seven of the last eight meetings with the reigning Spanish champions.
Conclusion
Barcelona are major favourites to record a victory and we believe they will come out on top. However, a home win offers very value. So, we will look at the goals market.
We are backing the over 2.5 goals scored, as Barcelona are simply just so hard to stop scoring, despite Getafe’s recent good defensive display. We are also taking a punt on Antoine Griezmann to be an anytime goalscorer.
Verdict: We are backing the over 2.5 goals at odds of 8/11 and/or Antoine Griezmann to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 27/20. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
