Prediction and odds for the game: Juventus (6/5) v Inter (5/2)
We are backing the draw at odds of 11/5.
When: Sunday 1st March 2020, Kick-off 7:45 PM
Where: The Allianz Stadium
On Sunday night, reigning Italian champions Juventus host Inter at the Allianz Stadium in a game that could be key in the race for the Scudetto. The game will be played behind closed doors due to a major outbreak of the Coronavirus in Italy.
Juventus
The Bianconeri heads into this clash on the back of a shock 1-0 defeat at Lyon in the Champions League last-16 first leg. The defeat is part of a highly inconsistent recent records for the Italian champions. Maurizio Sarri’s team has now won just two of their last five competitive games.
However, the reigning champions have recorded back-to-back wins in Serie A against Brescia and last time out SPAL. The wins have kept Sarri’s team a point above Lazio in second place and four above Sunday night’s visitors in the table. Crucially though, the Nerazzurri have a game in hand on their title rivals.
Juventus are undefeated in 33 Serie A games at the Allianz Stadium, having recorded five straight home wins in the Italian top-flight. The Bianconeri have also been prolific of late on home soil in the Italian top-flight, scoring at least twice in 11 of their last 12 matches.
Inter
The Nerazzurri’s game last weekend against Atalanta was postponed due to the ongoing issue with the Coronavirus, which has left Antonio Conte’s team kicking their heels and desperately in need of a win in this potentially vital game.
Inter have beaten Bulgarian outfit Ludogorets twice in the last-32 of the Europa League since a 2-1 defeat at Lazio in their last match in Serie A.
The defeat in Rome ended a run of 16 games without defeat in the Italian top-flight for the Nerazzurri. The loss does now mean that Inter has won just two of their last six matches in Serie A. The relatively inconsistent form is the reason they are behind Sunday’s opponents in the race for Scudetto. A win in this clash would put the visitors in pole position to win Serie A this season, even if Lazio goes top of the table temporarily this weekend.
Inter have a decent away record away from home in Serie A, as they have won nine of their last 12 league games on their travels in the Italian top-flight. The Nerazzurri also scored at least twice in all nine of those away victories.
The visitors have failed to win any of the last six meetings with Juventus, suffering four defeats and picking up just two draws.
Conclusion
The fact that this potentially massive game could make the game slightly surreal. With that in mind, we are backing the draw, as with no home support Juventus gain very little from being at home. The other bet we are backing is the over 2.5 goals, as both teams have the attacking talent to cause the other harm, despite the pair having two of the best defences in the Italian top-flight.
Verdict: We are backing the draw at odds of 11/5 and/or the over 2.5 goals scored at evens. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
