Prediction and odds for the game: Dortmund (1/3) v Hertha Berlin (13/2)
We are backing the home win at odds of 1/3
When: Saturday, 6th June 2020, Kick-off 17:30
Where: Signal Iduna Park
On Saturday evening Dortmund host Hertha Berlin at Signal Iduna Park, as BVB attempt to keep their slim hopes of winning the Bundesliga title alive.
Dortmund
Despite being seven points behind league leaders Bayern Munich, Dortmund will keep going in a possibly vein attempt at catching the reigning champions. Apart from a 1-0 home defeat against the Bavarians, BVB’s recent league form has been strong of late.
A 6-1 triumph at bottom of the table Paderborn in their last league matches means that BVB have now won seven of their last eight games. Dortmund are renowned as a team that plays exciting football. Lucien Favre’s team has lively up to that reputation of late, scoring at least twice in four of their last five matches in the Bundesliga.
Dortmund have been strong on home soil of late in the German top-flight. The 1-0 defeat against Bayern ended a 14-game undefeated run on home soil in the Bundesliga for BVB. It also ended a run of five consecutive home wins in the German top-flight. Dortmund have been defensively solid at the Signal Iduna Park, as Bayern are the only opposition team in five league matches to score against BVB.
Hertha Berlin
The team from the German capital head into this clash in high spirits after a superb recent run of form that could well lead to an unlikely late charge for a European spot this season. Bruno Labbadia’s team are now just four points adrift of sixth-place in the table. A 2-0 home win over Augsburg in their last Bundesliga outing took them to six league games undefeated.
The biggest factor in their recent good results has been their attacking threat, as the visitors have scored at least twice in all six of their undefeated league outings. On-loan striker Krzysztof Piatek has netted in Hertha’s last two league matches.
Another positive for the visitors is their recent form on the road in the Bundesliga. They are undefeated in their last seven Bundesliga games on their travels, having recorded four wins and three draws. As with their general league games, Hertha have been impressive in front of goal on their travels in the Bundesliga, scoring over 2.5 goals in six of their last seven away games.
Conclusion
Hertha look like a completely different team since the return from the enforced break. They should give Dortmund a good run for their money, but we believe that BVB will come out on top in a high-scoring encounter. That is why we are also backing over 2.5 goals.
Verdict: We are backing the home win at odds of 1/3 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/11 (All odds are taken from Bet365).
