Prediction and odds for the game: Real Madrid (4/11) v Valencia (7/1)
We are backing both teams to score at odds of 7/10
When: Thursday, 18th June 2020, Kick-off 21:00
Where: The Santiago Bernabeu
On Thursday night, Real Madrid host Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu, as the home side look to stay in touch with Barcelona in the race for La Liga.
Real Madrid
Los Blancos have fallen five points behind league leaders and arch-rivals Barcelona after the champions 2-0 win over Leganes on Tuesday night. The home side will hope to reduce the gap again in this clash by recording a victory in this clash.
A recent mixed run of league form has rather hamstrung Zinedine Zidane’s team in the race for the Spanish title. The team from the Spanish capital has won just two of their last five outings in La Liga. Although their recent league matches have not always been high-scoring, there have been at least two goals scored in five of their last six league matches.
The home side are undefeated in 14 home games in the Bernabeu in the top-flight, recording an impressive ten victories. They have been characteristically lethal in front of goal of late, scoring at least twice in four of their last five league outings at the Bernabeu.
Valencia
Los Che have experienced a rollercoaster of a season so far in the Spanish top-flight. However, Albert Celades’ team are still eighth place in the table, just three points outside the European qualification berths.
A run of just one victory in their last six league matches has hindered the visitor’s chance of breaking into the top-six this season. A 1-1 draw at home against Levante last time out at least means that the visitors are three games undefeated in La Liga, although two of the games have finished in draws.
The game was also the fourth match of Valencia’s last five to see both teams score. With both teams’ recent records that could not be ruled out in this clash.
Los Che have been travel sick of late in the Spanish top-flight, as they have failed to win in their last five away outings in La Liga, suffering three defeats and picking up just two draws. The fact that the visitors have not kept a clean sheet in ten matches on their travels in La Liga has not helped them achieve positive away results.
Another negative is that Valencia have won just one of their previous seven meetings with the home side in all competitions.
Conclusion
We expect the home side to record a home win, but that offers very little value. The first bet we recommend is both teams to score, as both teams have a big attacking threat and Real Madrid have proven to have a generous defence of late at times. We are also backing over 2.5 goals scored too, for the same reasons previously mentioned.
Verdict: We are backing both teams to score at odds of 7/10 and/or over 2.5 goals at odds of 8/15. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
