Prediction and odds for the game: Arsenal (5/4) v Leicester (2/1)

We are backing Arsenal to continue their recent rich vein of league form

When: Tuesday, 7th July 2020, Kick-off 20:15

Where: The Emirates Stadium

On Tuesday night, Arsenal host Leicester at the Emirates Stadium, in a Premier League that could prove pivotal in the race for European qualification for next season.

Arsenal

The Gunners are steadily improving under head coach Mikel Arteta. A 2-0 win over in-form Wolves last time out was certainly impressive. The victory means that the team from North London have recorded four straight wins in all competitions and three consecutive victories in the Premier League.

One facet of the home sides play that has improved immensely under Arteta has been their defence. Before the Spaniard’s arrival, the Gunners looked highly vulnerable at the back. However, there has been a noticeable improvement at the back from the north London outfit, including keeping clean sheets in their previous three league outings.

Married to those good defensive displays has been their potent attack, which has seen the Gunners score at least twice in their last three league outings. Things are certainly starting to look more promising for the home side.

Although the Champions League spots currently look out of reach, as the Gunners are six points behind the qualification spots for Europe’s elite competition, Arsenal will still not consider themselves out of the race completely for the top-five.

Arsenal have beaten Leicester in the last eight matches on home soil in all competitions. They will fancy their chances of making that nine straight home victories against the Foxes.

Leicester

Brendan Rodgers team have made a mixed return to action in the Premier League. The Foxes had failed to win any of their three top-flight games before a 3-0 hammering of Crystal Palace last time out at the King Power Stadium.

The win just consolidated their spot in next season’s Champions League. However, they are still not certain of a place in Europe’s elite competition for next season. Arsenal’s win over Wolves last time out has given the Foxes a six-point buffer to their sixth-place Midlands rivals. Finishing in the top-five this season would be a big achievement for Rodgers and his team.

One aspect of his team that the former Celtic head coach will hope to change is their away record. The Foxes have failed to win any of their previous five away games in the top-flight, with two of those matches coming in empty stadiums. The lack of fans has not helped the visitors on their travels.

On positive for Leicester heading into this game is that they have won three of their last four meetings with Arsenal. The problem is that all three wins have come on home soil.

Conclusion

It finally seems like Arsenal are on the right track after several years of frustration. They are playing with confidence and the win over Wolves will only have added to their confidence. One player who has enjoyed mixture fortunes after the break is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. However, he scored a brace in the Gunners last home match and we are backing the Gabon star to be an anytime goalscorer in this clash.

Verdict: We are backing an Arsenal win at odds of 11/10 and/or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 19/20. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
