Prediction and odds for the game: Everton (6/5) v Bournemouth (2/1)
We are backing the home win
When: Sunday, 26th July 2020, Kick-off 16:00
Where: Goodison Park
On Sunday afternoon, Everton host Bournemouth at Goodison Park, in a Premier League clash that will prove vital for the visitor’s hopes survival in the top-flight on the final day of the campaign.
Everton
For many Everton players, this could be their last appearance in a royal blue shirt, as Italian head coach Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly set to overhaul his squad this summer. The Toffees can only finish either 11th or 12th place in the table after another underachieving Premier League campaign.
A 1-0 win at Sheffield United last time out ended a four-game run of form for the Merseysider’s in the Premier League. The match at Bramall Lane saw the home side keep a first clean sheet in six Premier League outings.
Despite their poor recent run of league form, Everton have remained hard to beat at Goodison Park, as they are 12 games unbeaten in the Premier League. However, four of Everton’s last five league games on home soil have produced draws.
Everton have had the better of recent meetings with Bournemouth at Goodison. The Toffees have won all four of the Premier League meetings between the two teams at their grand old stadium.
Bournemouth
It is now do-or-die time for Bournemouth. Eddie Howe’s team heads into this game 19th place in the Premier League table, three points behind 17th place Aston Villa, with an inferior goal difference of one goal to Villa. The Cherries are also three points behind 18th place Watford.
The odds look against the visitors surviving the drop, as they would need to win this game and hope that both Villa and Watford lose, otherwise they will be plying their trade in the Championship next season.
A run of just one win in their last 12 league matches has been the main cause of Bournemouth’s problems. Defensive issues have plagued the Cherries of late, as only Aston Villa and bottom of the table Norwich have conceded more goals in the Premier League this season.
The visitors recent away form has been truly horrendous, as they have lost 12 of their last 13 matches, including their last nine league games. Their defensive problems have been particularly bad on their travels, as they have conceded as least twice in seven of their last nine league games away from home.
Conclusion
This game is a massive one for Bournemouth, while the home team doesn’t have much to play for on the final day. The problem for the Cherries is their terrible form and the fact that Everton started showing signs of life against Sheffield United last time out.
We believe that Everton will come out on top in a high-scoring clash to end Bournemouth’s tenure in the English top-flight.
Verdict: We are backing the home win at odds of 6/5 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/7. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
