Prediction and odds for the game: PSG (11/5) v Bayern Munich (Evens)
We are backing the Bayern win
When: Sunday, 23rd August 2020, Kick-off 20:00
Where: The Estadio da Luz
On Sunday night, European giants PSG and Bayern Munich go head-to-head at the Estadio da Luz, in what promises to be a highly intriguing Champions League final.
PSG
The big-spending French team could finally achieve their dream of winning Europe’s elite competition this season but have an incredible strong obstacle in the way of winning their first-ever European Cup. This will be the Parisians maiden appearance in the Champions League final, as Thomas Tuchel’s side look for a historic victory.
PSG head into this game with a stellar recent record in the Champions League, as the team from the French capital, have won eight of their previous ten games in the competition. They have eliminated Dortmund, Atalanta and RB Leipzig on the way to the final. Their 3-0 victory over the latter was particularly impressive, as they looked in complete control.
The French team are renowned for their attacking threat and that has been on full display of late in this competition, as they have scored at least twice in four of their previous five European games. With Bayern likely to be playing a high defensive line, PSG have the attacking players to punish the German giants on the break.
Bayern Munich
The Bavarian giants have been formidable in 2020 and basically since the appointment of Niko Kovac’s former assistant Hansi Flick as head coach. The former Hoffenheim coach has guided Bayern to 33 victories in his 36 competitive matches in charge, suffering just two defeats along the way.
Despite winning the Bundesliga for an eighth straight season, their Champions League campaign has arguably been the highlight of their campaign. The German champions have a hundred per cent record in the Champions League this season, having won ten out of ten of their games in Europe’s elite competition.
Like PSG, their attacking play has been one of the standout features of Bayern’s play in their Champions League campaign. Flick’s team have scored at least three goals in their last six European outings. The most memorable victory was the 8-2 humiliation of a woeful Barcelona in the quarter-final of the competition. A 3-0 defeat of surprise-package Lyon in the last four was not too shabby either.
Star striker Robert Lewandowski netted his 15th goal of this season’s Champions League campaign against OL. The Polish striker will be looking to add to his goal tally in this clash.
Conclusion
Both teams head into this game on massive highs and in good form. PSG could well cause Bayern major defensive problems in this clash. However, we are predicting that the German team will have enough quality and momentum to see of their French opponents. With the attacking players on display on Sunday night, this has to be a highly entertaining encounter. We are taking a rather safe option of recommending to back both teams to score, as it looks a logical bet.
Verdict: We are backing the Bayern Munich win at evens and both teams to score at odds of 2/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
