Prediction and odds for the game: Arsenal (8/15) vs Sheffield United (5/1)
We are backing under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 10/11
When: Sunday, 4th October 2020, Kick-off 14:00
Where: The Emirates Stadium
On Sunday afternoon, Arsenal host Sheffield United at the Emirates Stadium, as both teams look to get back to winning ways after poor results last time out in the Premier League.
Arsenal
The Gunners have made a decent start to the new campaign, winning two of their three Premier League games, while also making it to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup. Last time out they drew 0-0 at Liverpool to seal their progress in the much-maligned competition.
However, in their last league outing, Mikel Arteta’s team suffered a 3-1 defeat at reigning champions, Liverpool. There were still positives to take from the game for the team from north London from their trip to Merseyside. The defeat ended a three-game winning run for the home team in the English top-flight. The game continued a trend of high-scoring games in the Premier League for Arsenal, as their last four league outings have produced over 2.5 goals.
Arsenal are unbeaten in their last ten league games on home soil, having recorded eight victories in the process. The Gunners attacking prowess has been on full display of late, as Arteta’s team have scored at least two goals in six of their previous eight league matches at the Emirates Stadium.
Sheffield United
Chris Wilder’s team look to be experiencing something of a second season syndrome. The Blades were superb last season on their return to the English top-flight. However, the Yorkshire team have started the current campaign with three straight defeats.
Going back to the end of last season, the visitors have now suffered six straight top-flight defeats, having scored just once in the losing run. They have made moves to strengthen their attack by signing young striker Rhian Brewster for £23million from Liverpool. This game may prove too soon for the 20-year-old to make his debut, though.
United built their successful campaign on defensive solidity last season. However, they have kept just two cleans in their last ten Premier League outings.
The Blades also strolled for results on their travels last season, having won just one of their last 11 away games in the league. To make matters worse they have lost five of their previous six games in the English top-flight. The visitors have struggled for goals on their travels, having scored just two goals in their previous seven away matches in the top-flight.
Conclusion
It would be difficult not to fancy a home win in this game. However, that offers little value in terms of betting. One of the bets we do fancy is the under 2.5 goals scored. The Blades are not high-scoring and they still haven’t been letting in a bucket full of goals in of late. We are also looking at the half-time/Arsenal as a decent punt too.
Verdict: We are backing under 2.5 goals to be scored at odds of 10/11 and/or half-Arsenal at odds of 3/1. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
