Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team have experienced a rollercoaster of a top-flight campaign. The Saints kicked off their league campaign with back-to-back defeats against Crystal Palace and Tottenham, before two straight victories over Burnley and West Brom in their last two league outings.

The team from the south coast conceded six goals in those opening two defeats. However, they have now kept two consecutive clean sheets in the English top-flight.

Southampton have a highly inconsistent away record in the Premier League stretching back to last season. However, they have only lost once in their previous five league games on their travels. Their latest away matches in the top-flight have certainly not been goal fests, as four of their last five games away from home have produced under 2.5 goals. The Saints have only failed to score once in their last eight away games in the top-flight.

The team from the south coast have won just one of the last nine meetings with Chelsea. However, that was when the two teams met last at Stamford Bridge last season.

Conclusion

Chelsea will be big favourites to win this game, but the home win offers little value, and the Saints are unlikely to be easy opponents. Instead, we are looking at the goals markets and backing both teams to score. The Saints offer a significant attacking threat and can cause the Blues defensive problems. The other bet we are recommending is Kai Havertz to break his Premier League goal duck. He looks to be growing into the team and a goal for Germany in midweek will certainly boost his confidence ahead of this clash.
