Leeds United will attempt to keep their strong start to the Premier League season going when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday Night Football.

Leeds

Marcelo Bielsa wanted to try and bring his philosophy into the Premier League when Leeds gained promotion, and boy oh boy has he done that so far. From scoring great goals to playing wonderful football this is a club that isn’t even considering the possibility of going straight back down to the second tier. Instead, they’re looking at a bright future, and they’re hoping to make a name for themselves at the expense of the Premier League’s finest.

They may have lost 4-3 to Liverpool to kickstart their first season back in the big time, and they may have been knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Hull, but since then they’ve done nothing but thrive. They beat Fulham 4-3, edged out Sheffield United and picked up an impressive draw against Manchester City.

Wolves

Nuno Espirito Santo isn’t going to be too worried about the start his Wolves side have made to the new campaign, but when you consider the changes they made during the summer transfer window, they have left a lot to be desired up to this point. Still, their back-to-back seventh place finishes indicate that they are capable of doing some great things in the top flight. All they need to do now is live up to the hype, which is probably easier said than done.

A 2-0 win against Sheffield United opened up the season perfectly for Wolves but it went downhill from there, as they lost to Stoke in the Carabao Cup prior to defeats against Manchester City and West Ham United. They did beat Fulham in their last outing before the international break but it was still too close for comfort.

Conclusion

Both sides function in very different ways but they tend to work under a similar mission statement – exciting football. Leeds have been able to give everyone they’ve played so far a bloody nose and they’ll do so again here against a Wolves side that haven’t really been at the races so far this season. It’s going to be an intriguing bout and we think both clubs will come away with a point, which will probably be an acceptable result for the pair of them.

The official scoreline we’re going to go with for our prediction is 1-1, which means we’re therefore backing the under 2.5 goals market. That doesn’t mean we aren’t going to see some great football, and instead, it says a lot about their respective defensive capabilities.

Verdict: Back the draw at odds of 23/10 and the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/5 (All odds are taken from bet365).
