Prediction and odds for the game: Burnley (4/1) v Tottenham (8/13)
We are backing Heung-Min Son to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 8/5
When: Monday, 26th October 2020, Kick-off 20:00
Where: Turf Moor
On Monday night, Burnley host Tottenham at Turf Moor in the Premier League, as the home side look for their league win of the season.
Burnley
The Clarets have made a woeful start to the new Premier League campaign, picking up just one point from their opening four top-flight games. A 0-0 draw at newly-promoted West Brom last time out means that Sean Dyche’s team has won just one of their last eight games dating back to last season. The draw at the Hawthorns at least ended a run of four straight top-flight defeats for the Clarets.
Burnley’s most recent Premier League games have been relatively low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in nine of their last 12 league outings.
The Clarets have been difficult opponents at Turf Moor in seasons gone by. However, the team from the north west have struggled for league wins of late on home soil, having failed to win in four home games in the English top-flight. A factor in those poor home results has been that they have kept just one clean sheet in their previous six league outings at Turf Moor.
Burnley have taken four points from their last two home meetings with Tottenham, but have also won just once in 14 meetings with the team from north London.
Tottenham
Jose Mourinho’s team have been an incredible cocktail of brilliant attacking displays mixed with poor defensive performances of late. Last time out in the top-flight, Spurs threw away a three-goal lead to draw 3-3 with West Ham.
Attacking players Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane had combined superbly to put Tottenham into the lead after just 16 minutes. However, in an extraordinary turnaround, West Ham struck three goals from 82 minutes onwards to claim a point. Spurs followed that draw up with a comfortable 3-0 win over Austrian team LASK in the Europa League.
The win means that Spurs are unbeaten since the opening day defeat to table-topping Everton, a nine-game run in all competitions. Tottenham are unbeaten in five away games in the top-flight dating back to July.
The aforementioned forward pair of Kane and Son have been in spectacular form of late. Kane has scored five times in as many top-flight appearances this season, while Son has scored seven times in the Premier League. The latter is joint-top goalscorer in the English top-flight alongside Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Conclusion
The Clarets have experienced a now almost annual slow start to their Premier League campaign. Dyche’s team continue to flirt with danger, but always seem to escape after their form picking up. The home side needs to start picking up wins to kick-start their recovery.
Tottenham heads into this game in rich goalscoring form, yet they are vulnerable in defence. That may not matter against a Burnley side that has struggled for goals, though. The first bet we are recommending is Son to be anytime goalscorer, as he offers good value at 8/5. Our other recommendation is over 2.5 goals scored, as we believe that Spurs will continue their good scoring form in the north west.
Verdict: We are backing Heung-Min Son as anytime scorer at odds of 8/5 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365)
