Prediction and odds for the game: Poland (11/4) vs Netherlands (10/11)

We are backing the draw at odds of 13/5

When: Wednesday, 18th November 2020, Kick-off 19:45

Where: Stadion Narodowy

On Wednesday night, Poland host Netherlands at the Stadion Narodowy in Group A1 of the Nations League, in a game that could be vital in the qualifying for the last four of the competition.

Poland

The home side are currently third place in the group, two points behind group leaders Italy. They cannot make the last four of the competition if Italy picks up anything from their last game of the group against bottom of the group Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The odds are against Jerzy Brzeczek’s team making it to the semi-finals after a 2-0 defeat in Italy in their last outing. The defeat ended a five-game unbeaten run for Poland, including four wins. Before the game against the Azzurri, they had also kept three straight clean sheets.

Poland have not fared well in the Nations League, as they have recorded just two wins in their last nine matches in the competition. However, both of their wins in the Nations League have come in the latest edition, which is why they are still in contention for a semi-final berth heading into gameweek six.

Netherlands

The Netherlands heads into this clash second in the group, two points behind group leaders Italy. Frank de Boer’s team know that even a victory in this clash may not be enough to qualify for the finals of the competition for a second straight edition. If Italy beat Bosnia and Herzegovina, then the Azzurri will qualify for the last four.

The Oranje have experienced mixed fortunes of late, as a 3-1 home win over Bosnia and Herzegovina last time out means that they are unbeaten in four games. However, three of those games have finished all-square and the victory last time out ended a five-game winless run. The win was also De Boer’s first in charge of the Netherlands.

The visitors do have a mixed recent record in the Nations League, winning just three of their nine matches over 90 minutes in the competition, despite finishing as winners runners-up in the last edition of the competition. They have also failed to win any of their four away games in the Nations League, with three games finishing all square and one ending in a 2-1 defeat in France.

Conclusion

The result of this game may mean very little if Italy wins their game on round six. This is likely to be a tight encounter. With that in mind, we are backing the draw and also under 2.5 goals scored.

Verdict: We are backing the draw at odds of 13/5 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 10/11. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
