We have reached gameweek 12 in FPL and the gameweek represents another opportunity to move up the ranks in your leagues and mini leagues. The less said about gameweek 11 the better. Without further ado, here are our picks for gameweek 12:

Kyle Walker-Peters (Southampton, £4.6m)

The former-Tottenham full-back now seems to be finding his feet on the south coast in a thriving Saints team. His attacking abilities earned an assist last weekend, as Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team saw off south coast rivals Brighton. It was the full-back’s second assist of the top-flight campaign.

Walker-Peters has also helped his team keep four clean sheets for the season in the English top-flight, which is not a great record, but that record may improve this weekend when the Saints welcome bottom of the table Sheffield United to St Marys. The Blades have scored just five top-flight goals this season, which is the joint-lowest tally of any team in the Premier League.

Kurt Zouma (Chelsea, £5.7m)

Incredibly, the French centre-back is Chelsea’s joint-top scorer in the Premier League this season with four goals. His aerial ability at both ends of the pitch has proven vital for Frank Lampard’s team this season. Zouma has also been part of a much-improved Chelsea backline, as the Blues have now kept clean sheets in five of their last eight top-flight matches.

Zouma comes up against former club Everton on Saturday night. The Toffees are on a terrible run of form of late, conceding goals for fun with full-backs Lucas Digne and Seamus Coleman both sidelined through injury. Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti also faces his former employers. The Italian will hope for an improvement at both ends of the pitch. However, Chelsea’s prolific centre-back may come back to haunt the Toffees.

Tomas Soucek (West Ham, £4.9m)

The giant Czech Republic international is proving a bargain buy for West Ham. He also offers exceptional value in FPL at just £4.9m. There are few attacking if any attacking midfielders who feature regularly for their teams in the top-flight at that sort of price. In fact, Soucek has played 90 minutes in all 11 Premier League games for the Irons this season.

He is not just an enabler to bring in the more expensive players, though. Unlike some budgets options, he offers a prospect of points. He scored last time out in the Hammers 3-1 home defeat by Manchester United. It was his second goal of the season, having also produced an assist. The midfielder has arguably been unlucky not to have added to that tally.

West Ham faces a trip to Leeds this weekend. The Whites usually allow the opposition teams chances and Soucek could profit from that generosity.

Danny Ings (Southampton, £8.3m)

The England international returned from injury by coming off the bench and scoring the winner against Brighton last time out. The goal was Ings sixth in eight Premier League appearances this season, as he missed three league matches due to injury.

The former-Liverpool forward should return to the Saints starting line-up this weekend for the home game against struggling Sheffield United. If Ings can stay injury-free, Ings will not just be a decent short-term pick, he could be a good pick in the long-term.
