Prediction and odds for the game: Milan (21/10) vs Juventus (5/4)
We are backing the draw at odds of 12/5
When: Wednesday, 6th January 2021, Kick-off 19:45
Where: The San Siro
On Wednesday, Serie A leaders Milan host Juventus at the San Siro, as the Rossoneri look to maintain their lead at the top of the table.
Milan
Stefano Pioli’s team have been in top form this season to rise to the top of the Serie A table. The Rossoneri are a point clear of bitter rivals Inter and a massive ten clear of the visiting reigning champions. The Bianconeri do have a game in hand, but that could mean very little if the men from Milan win this clash.
A home win can certainly not be ruled out considering the home sides stellar form this season. Their good league form has not just started this season, though, as the Milan are unbeaten in 27 league games unbeaten in Serie A. More recently Pioli’s team has recorded three consecutive league wins.
The Rossoneri have been deadly in attack of late in the Italian top-flight, scoring at least twice in 26 of those 27 undefeated matches. Top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has scored ten top-flight goals this season, is likely to miss out through injury.
Milan have a poor recent record against Juventus, winning just one of the last 13 meetings in all competitions in 90 minutes. A 4-2 home win in their last meeting ended a 12-game winless run for the Rossoneri against the Bianconeri.
Juventus
The reigning Italian champions are not enjoying the best of starts with club legend Andrea Pirlo at the helm. The Bianconeri have suffered just one loss in their last 13 matches in Serie A, but six of those matches have finished all-square. Last time out, the visitors recorded a 4-1 home win over Udinese.
The underwhelming start to their Serie A campaign has left the Italian champions fifth-place in the table, a point outside the Champions League qualification spots.
The team from Turin have been difficult to beat on their travels in Serie A, as have not been defeated in their last seven league games away from home. However, the visitors have won just three times in their previous 11 away matches in the Italian top-flight.
Milan may be without their veteran superstar, the visitors own older star Cristiano Ronaldo will be very much present for this clash. The Portuguese international has scored 14 times in just 11 Serie A appearances this season.
Conclusion
In seasons gone by this is the sort of game that Juventus used to always manage to pull off a victory in. This season is slightly different, but we still believe that the Bianconeri will have enough quality to claim a draw.
The other bet we are recommending is Milan forward Rafael Leao to be an anytime goalscorer. The Portuguese star seems to now be finding his feet in the Rossoneri attack.
Verdict: We are backing the draw at odds of 12/5 and/or Rafael Leao to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 9/4. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
