In the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it seems like English football is as busy as it’s ever been before with the games coming thick and fast in the cup as well as in the league. Over the course of the next few days we’re going to be treated to four intriguing match-ups, some of which are being used as an opportunity to catch up on games that were postponed due to COVID outbreaks within the various squads.

Burnley vs. Manchester United
Manchester United won’t exactly have to travel too far down the road in order to reach Turf Moor, a place where they’ve had some mixed results over the years. The Clarets are quite clearly a team with some momentum because even though they aren’t out there dominating every team they face, they have the sort of resilience that makes them incredibly hard to beat. United should win this one but if there are fans out there who think it’s going to be a walk in the park, we suggest you think again.
Sheffield United vs. Newcastle
If there was ever going to be an opportunity for Sheffield United to finally earn their first win of the Premier League season, this is it. Newcastle United have been under pressure for quite some time now as a result of their style of play under Steve Bruce, and we don’t think that’s just going to go away overnight. They’re in a position whereby they should be the favourites heading into this one but with the Blades picking up an important win in the FA Cup, they should fancy their chances.
Wolves vs. Everton
Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton both have their fair share of injuries to deal with, and because both are also set to play at the weekend, we don’t think it’s crazy to think they’re going to be a bit more conservative than usual here. We’re anticipating that they will play out an entertaining draw with Everton taking on Aston Villa this Sunday and Wolves coming face to face with Black Country rivals West Bromwich Albion on Saturday for the first time in almost nine years. If that isn’t an incentive to be a bit more cautious than usual, we’re not sure what is.
Tottenham vs. Fulham
Instead of playing Aston Villa as they were scheduled to, Tottenham Hotspur will now take on Fulham on short notice – such is the dramatic nature of the pandemic that we live in. Realistically Spurs should be the ones taking home the victory here, further emphasising their push for a place in the title race, but the Cottagers are bound to put up a fight as they have done all season long. We aren’t even sure if this game is still going to be taking place by the time we reach the intended kick-off time, so take this with a grain of salt.
