Prediction and odds for the game: Everton (7/4) vs Leicester (31/20)
We are backing the draw at odds of 12/5
When: Wednesday, 27th January 2021, Kick-off 20:15
Where: Goodison Park
On Wednesday night, Everton and Leicester go head-to-head at Goodison Park in what is one of the most fascinating midweek games in the English top-flight.
Everton
Despite injuries and suspension problems, the Toffees head into this clash in good league form. The Toffees have won five of their last six matches in the Premier League. The run means that Carlo Ancelotti’s team are just two points adrift of the Champions League spots, with two games in hand on fourth place arch-rivals Liverpool. The home side’s recent league games have been relatively low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in six of their last eight league outings.
Everton have an inconsistent recent home record, as they have now won just two of their last six league outings at Goodison Park, losing three of their last five matches. Their recent league games have been tight-lowing affairs.
The Toffees will be without midfielders Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure. However, the likes of Lucas Digne, James Rodriguez and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have recently returned to full fitness after injury.
Leicester
Brendan Rodgers team are third-place in the Premier League table, just two points behind league leaders Manchester United. The Foxes are also six points ahead of the home side. A recent six-game unbeaten run in the Premier League has been a big factor in the Foxes lofty position in the table. That stellar run of form includes three straight victories over Newcastle, Southampton and last time out in the league Chelsea.
The visitors have been relatively prolific of late in the English top-flight, scoring two goals in five of their last six league outings. The Foxes were also prolific against Brentford in the FA Cup fourth round last time out, beating the Championship team 3-1.
Leicester have been in stellar away form of late, as they are unbeaten in six league matches on their travels in the top-flight, having recorded five wins. The visitors have been prolific in that recent stellar run, scoring at least twice in all five of the wins on their travels in the Premier League.
One negative for Leicester is that star striker Jamie Vardy is sidelined through injury. The veteran star has scored 11 goals in 18 top-flight this season.
Conclusion
These two teams are both targeting glory this season. The Foxes are seen as outsiders for the title this season. However, the home side could well move to within three points of the visitors in the table.
Everton are hard to beat under Ancelotti and the recent return of some key players should be enough to help the Toffees to a draw in this clash. We are also taking a punt on under 2.5 goals scored, simply because the Toffees have looked far more solid of late in the Premier League.
Verdict: We are backing the draw at odds of 12/5 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
