The Premier League rolls on this week for another selection of entertaining fixtures as we continue to venture down the path of chaos that is January. We’re at the half way stage of the campaign when you take one look at how many games there are left to go before the season ends, and yet, there’s a whole lot that is already on the line for clubs up and down the table.

Today, our aim is to pick out four clubs, in particular, who we believe have a huge opportunity ahead of them in the next few days. They aren’t nailed on to pick up all three points and they may not even be the favourites, but if they can find a way to win, it could be huge for their season.

Everton

While they may not have been able to hold on for the win against Leicester, Everton are still in the mix when it comes to the top six – and even top four – conversation. They’ll be kickstarting the weekend’s action on Saturday with an extremely winnable fixture against a Newcastle side who seem to be in complete disarray. If they win, which they should, they’ll lay down a real marker by vaulting themselves into 5th before the rest of their closest challengers even kick off.

Wolves

The draw against Chelsea was a positive result but if Wolverhampton Wanderers really want to ease the pressure on Nuno Espirito Santo, and keep themselves out of the relegation battle in the process, it’s probably a good idea for them to really go after Crystal Palace this weekend. A win would help fans to believe that a top half finish may be possible after all, as opposed to the lingering threat of a relegation scrap that they’ve been experiencing ever since the West Brom defeat.

Manchester City

Manchester City have won their last 11 games in all competitions, which is all the proof that you need when it comes to their title credentials. Liverpool may be the reigning champions right now but Pep Guardiola holds the keys to the castle this season, and if they were ever going to make a statement, it’d be this weekend by beating Sheffield United after their closest challengers Manchester United failed to do so just a few days prior.

Arsenal

The win over Southampton continued Arsenal’s strong run of league form, and while they’ve still got a long way to go before the top four looks like a viable goal, they’ll fancy their chances against Manchester United on Saturday. The Red Devils’ ability to win games late on couldn’t help them against the Blades, and you’d have to think they are going to be playing the wounded animal role at the Emirates. Mikel Arteta knows what his side are capable of, and he’ll be hoping that they can prove themselves against Ole’s men.
