Prediction & odds for the game: Fulham (16/5) v Leicester (10/11) – ST is backing the home win
When: Wednesday, 3rd February @ 6pm K.O
Where: Craven Cottage
Fulham will try and boost their survival hopes when they take on Leicester City side who need to revive their top four surge.
Fulham
Fulham have gone from looking like relegation certainties to a team who neutral fans are really starting to get behind. That’s probably down to how they’re starting to come at teams a bit more, and Scott Parker deserves a lot of praise for such a transformation. He knows how badly fans want to see this squad fight for their place amongst English football’s elite, and right now, that’s making for quite the storyline.
Even though their form list doesn’t suggest it, Fulham are definitely starting to piece things together moreso than they were at the start of the campaign. They were unlucky to lose narrowly to Chelsea and Manchester United, Burnley rightly beat them in the FA Cup, and they’ve edged out draws against Tottenham, Brighton and West Brom. Now, the next challenge is turning those draws into wins.
Leicester
Brendan Rodgers does a lot of things right as manager of Leicester City Football Club, but maintaining a sense of consistency has always been a real struggle for him to manage. The Foxes are legitimate top four contenders and it’s taken years for them to build up that profile in the wake of their phenomenal Premier League title win – but the downside of that is supporters start expecting more on a week to week basis.
A dominant winning run saw Leicester start the year in a bright way as they beat Stoke & Brentford in the FA Cup to go alongside big wins over Southampton and Chelsea in the Premier League. However, after a hard-fought draw against Everton, they somewhat fell apart in a 3-1 defeat to Leeds yesterday, which highlights that lapse in concentration which pops up at random points.
Conclusion
This is exactly the sort of game that this season of Premier League action thrives on – in the sense that nobody really knows what is going to happen. Despite Leicester being situated in the top four we still think they’re vulnerable against teams who come out and test them, which is precisely what we’re expecting the Cottagers to do. We think Fulham will win this, and weirdly enough, we don’t think it’s going to be viewed as all that much of a surprise.
We’re going to give an official scoreline prediction of 1-0 Fulham, meaning we stick to the under 2.5 goals bracket, but it’ll still be entertaining enough to warrant some exciting viewing.
Verdict: Back the home win at odds of 16/5 and the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 10/11 (All odds are taken from bet365).
