Prediction & odds for the game: Leeds (3/4) v Crystal Palace (10/3) – ST is backing the draw
When: Monday, 8th February @ 8pm K.O
Where: Elland Road
Leeds United and Crystal Palace will meet on Monday Night Football with both hoping to make a push into the top half of the Premier League table.
Leeds
Marcelo Bielsa is either going to thrive or fail by the football has he has implemented at Elland Road and, right now, it feels like survival is pretty much nailed on. We can’t say that for certain but they’re definitely catching a lot of teams off guard, and their next step will be trying to adjust that heading into next season if they stay up. Leeds are one of the most exciting teams in this league to watch, and they deserve a great deal of credit for that.
Leeds seemed to be in freefall at the start of 2021 with convincing defeats to Tottenham, Brighton and even Crawley – but consecutive wins over Newcastle and Leicester helped to ease any concerns. Then, against Everton to kick off February, they were resolute and battled hard in a 2-1 defeat.
Crystal Palace
It feels very likely that Roy Hodgson is going to leave Selhurst Park at the end of the campaign but for the time being, fans need to deal with him being their manager. In recent weeks that hasn’t been a dreadful prospect with a few nice wins under their belt, but lingering in the mid-table region is an all too familiar feeling for Eagles supporters these days. Whether it’s with Roy or not, they’ll want to kick on and really achieve something different in the next couple of years.
The same was true for Palace that was true for Leeds in the new year as they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Wolves, beaten by Manchester City and West Ham, and played out dull 0-0 draw against Arsenal. In the last few days, however, they’ve bounced back with wins over Wolves and Newcastle.
Conclusion
There are plenty of reasons for both teams to feel positive, but in the end, we just think these two sides are going to cancel each other out. Palace will know how big a win could be for them but in equal measure, Leeds seem to play with the same kind of style every single time they go out there. We’re going to predict that this is going to end in a draw which, within the context of the relegation battle, wouldn’t be the worst result for either team.
Our official scoreline prediction is going to be 1-1, meaning we stick with the under 2.5 goals bracket.
Verdict: Back the draw at odds of 14/5 and the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 6/5 (All odds are taken from bet365).
