Prediction & odds for the game: Everton (19/20) v Fulham (3/1) – ST is backing the home win
When: Sunday, 14th February @ 7pm K.O
Where: Goodison Park
Everton and Fulham will meet on Sunday evening at Goodison Park as both attempt to bolster their top four and survival hopes in the Premier League.
Everton
In the blink of an eye, Everton Football Club are contenders once again – and it’s no coincidence that this rise has occurred in association with Carlo Ancelotti’s appointment as manager. There’s no point in pretending like the route to get to this point has been perfect because it hasn’t been, but the building blocks are in place now and given what they’ve already been able to accomplish, it certainly feels like the only way is up for this historic club.
Outside of a surprise 2-0 loss to Newcastle at the end of January, things have been looking up for Everton as of late. They beat Sheffield Wednesday and Tottenham in the FA Cup, fought to a draw against Manchester United and Leicester and even edged out Leeds in a thrilling 2-1 win at Elland Road.
Fulham
There’s been a whole lot of heart shown by Fulham in their last few games but as the gap between themselves and 17th place continues to grow, it’s starting to feel like they’re being cut adrift alongside West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United. Now that the January transfer window has been and gone, all Scott Parker can hope for is that his squad digs deep in the name of clawing every possible point together that they can between now and May.
Picking up draws has been a speciality for Fulham since we entered the new year, and in recent weeks, they’ve done so against Brighton, West Brom and, perhaps most impressively, West Ham. Unfortunately they’ve also suffered a few defeats courtesy of Manchester United, Leicester and Burnley in the FA Cup.
Conclusion
While Fulham have been able to produce some nice performances in the last few months, we think this is where they’ll start to run out of energy as the looming threat of relegation gets closer and closer. On the flip side, Everton have something to prove in the top four race, and we think they’re really going to put it on Fulham in a big way. Therefore, we’re going to back the Toffees to run out comfortable winners on Merseyside this weekend.
Our official scoreline prediction is going to be 4-0 Everton, ensuring the definition of a comprehensive win. We do think the Cottagers are going to have a few nice moments, but you can bet that effort won’t be remembered in the months to come.
Verdict: Back the home win at odds of 19/20 and the over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 1/1 (All odds are taken from bet365).
