Prediction and odds for the game: Burnley (21/20) vs Leicester (21/20)
We are backing the draw at odds of 11/5
When: Wednesday, 3rd March 2021, Kick-off 18:00
Where: Turf Moor
On Wednesday evening, Burnley host Leicester at Turf Moor in the Premier League, as both teams look to return to form after disappointing results last time out.
Burnley
The Clarets have enjoyed a mixed run of form of late, as although Sean Dyche’s team has only suffered one defeat in five Premier League games, they have also won just once in seven league outings.
A 4-0 hammering at Tottenham last time out ended a four-game unbeaten run of four games in the English top-flight for the team from Lancashire. The defeat also ended a decent defensive run for Burnley, who had conceded just one goal in their previous three matches.
In truth, it’s in attack that Burnley’s real problems lie, as only rock bottom Sheffield United have scored fewer goals in the Premier League this season than the Clarets. The fact that Chris Wood is their top league goalscorer with four tells its own story.
Burnley have failed to win in their last four league games at Turf Moor. However, their last three Premier League home games have finished all-square.
Leicester
Brendan Rodgers team heads into this potentially pivotal clash on the back of two straight defeats. Last time out the Foxes were mauled 4-1 by the Gunners at the King Power Stadium. The defeats were slightly concerning, but the visitors will hope to get back to winning ways in this encounter.
Despite the defeat against Arsenal, Leicester are still third-place, five points clear of fifth-place Chelsea and four clear of West Ham in fourth-place. They may look comfortable in the Champions League spots, but the visitors will be keen to avoid a repeat of last season’s collapse that saw them drop out of the top-four in the final weeks of the campaign. Their recent league form has been a slight concern going into this clash, as Rodgers’ team has now won three of their last seven league outings.
The Foxes decent recent away record has kept them in a healthy position in the Premier League table, as they are unbeaten in eight league matches on their travels, having recorded five wins in the process. Their scoring prowess has been one of the biggest factors in the good away form, as the visitors have scored at least two goals in five of their last eight league matches on their travels.
Conclusion
If Leicester had a fully fit squad we would be backing an away win. However, in-form winger Harvey Barnes will be sidelined through injury, while James Maddison is also an injury doubt. The pair are a big part of the Foxes attacking armoury. With Burnley being relatively solid, (Spurs game aside), we are backing the draw and under 2.5 goals scored. It could be a tight encounter, with a likely shortage of attacking football, especially from the home side.
Verdict: We are backing the draw at odds of 11/5 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 8/11. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
