When: Sunday, 21st March @ 5pm K.O
Where: King Power Stadium
Leicester City and Manchester United will meet this weekend with the winner making it into the semi-finals of this season’s FA Cup.
Leicester
While some are concerned that Leicester City’s end of season decline has begun, they’ve managed to secure a few really important wins lately that have actually strengthened their hold on a place in the top four. Brendan Rodgers knows the mistakes they made last season in the final stretch and he’ll be eager to avoid doing the same thing again this time around, especially given how much this Leicester team has grown and developed in recent years.
Leicester started their FA Cup journey this season with real confidence as they battered Championship side Stoke 4-0. They proceeded to see off the challenge of high-flyers Brentford before just about edging past Brighton in the fifth round, setting up their quarter-final date with United.
Manchester United
The one thing missing now that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in a groove as Manchester United manager is a piece of silverware. Between the FA Cup quarter-finals and Europa League quarter-finals they’re in a pretty good spot to accomplish that goal this season, but purely by the smaller volume of games, you’d have to think the FA Cup is their best route forward. It’s not a foregone conclusion given the strength of the teams left in the competition, but they should be feeling confident.
A nervous 1-0 win over Watford in the third round was followed up by a thrilling game against rivals Liverpool, that they eventually managed to win 3-2. Then, against West Ham, we were treated to a fairly dull game of football that Scott McTominay won for the Red Devils in injury time.
Conclusion
While there’s always a lot of anticipation associated with the final stages of the FA Cup, we don’t think this is going to be the most thrilling of games. Both teams know they’re just one win away from Wembley and the added pressure that comes with such knowledge is pretty daunting. We’re expecting a fun back and forth for the opening 15 minutes or so but once it settles down it’ll be quite a tense affair, with Manchester United pipping the Foxes to the win and a place in the final four.
Our official scoreline prediction is going to be 1-0 United, ensuring we stick to the under 2.5 goals bracket. There will be a few bright moments but for the most part, the drama and anticipation here will stem from knowing what the winner will receive.
Verdict: Back the away win at odds of 13/10 and the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 19/20 (All odds are taken from bet365).
