Prediction & odds for the game: Arsenal (11/5) v Liverpool (23/20) – ST is backing the away win
When: Saturday, 3rd April @ 8pm K.O
Where: Emirates Stadium
Arsenal and Liverpool will attempt to rebuild some post-international break momentum when they meet in the Premier League this weekend.
Arsenal
Arsenal certainly aren’t the finished product that Gunners fans want them to be but under the guidance of Mikel Arteta, they’re definitely on their way. The manager has been making small yet significant moves for the last year or so to ensure this squad of players gets as close as they possibly can to lifting a piece of silverware this season. There’s no guarantee it’s going to happen, but with just a few months left to go, they’re in with a shot.
Arsenal were able to reach the quarter-finals of the Europa League thanks to a nervy two-leg win over Olympiacos, although they did lose the second leg. They also dropped points to Burnley in a game that was riddled with VAR controversy, but outside of that, things have been fairly positive. They’ve beaten Leicester and Tottenham in recent weeks to go alongside an unbelievable comeback in a 3-3 draw against West Ham.
Liverpool
Nobody needs to tell Liverpool Football Club just how disastrous this season has been as they sit down in seventh place, five points off of Chelsea in fourth. Still, if there’s anyone who is going to drag them out of this mess and towards something a bit more optimistic, it’s Jurgen Klopp. The Liverpool boss has two objectives to focus on between now and the end of the campaign – finishing in the top four and potentially winning the Champions League.
Losses to Everton, Chelsea and Fulham – all at Anfield – set Liverpool back in a big way in their top four quest. They did manage to beat Sheffield United, Wolves and Leipzig in the weeks before the break, though, so perhaps a corner has been turned.
Conclusion
Both teams made improvements prior to the international break but we still think there’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding them both. Thankfully for the Reds they seem to have strung together a few more players who have returned from injury, and in a game away from Anfield, we think that’s going to make all the difference. We’re backing them to edge past Arsenal with a tense but exciting win at the Emirates.
Our official scoreline prediction is going to be 2-1 Liverpool, ensuring we hit the over 2.5 goals bracket, and we think there’s going to be a great deal of drama that goes along with that as the Premier League finally returns.
Verdict: Back the away win at odds of 23/20 and the over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 8/11 (All odds are taken from bet365).
