Prediction & odds for the game: Manchester City (2/7) v Leeds (9/1) – ST is backing the home win
When: Saturday, 10th April @ 12.30pm K.O
Where: Etihad Stadium
Manchester City will attempt to move one step closer to being crowned Champions of England when they host Leeds United this weekend.
Manchester City
The push for an unprecedented quadruple is still on the cards for Manchester City as their pursuit of glory continues. Pep Guardiola has done a solid enough job of balancing his squad thus far but the month of April is going to be incredibly hectic for them. They need to be able to manage their resources in a calm and dignified manner because just one bad result could bring the whole deck down in this crazy campaign.
The defeat to Manchester United seemed to trigger a reaction in City and that reaction was simple – beat everyone in sight. They tore through Southampton and Fulham in the Premier League before knocking Borussia Monchengladbach and Everton out of the Champions League and FA Cup respectively. They also beat Leicester to kickstart April before registering a narrow 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the UCL.
Leeds
The aim and overall ambition of Leeds this season now seems to be securing a spot in the top half which, in their first season back in the big time, should be viewed as a notable achievement. They have frustrated fans and blown them away in equal measure and while some feel as if they’re bound to get found out next season, nobody really knows what to expect from them – which is why the summer transfer window is going to be so intriguing.
A dominant 3-0 win over Southampton was followed up by a disappointing three-game winless streak against Aston Villa, West Ham and Chelsea. Thankfully for Leeds their next two fixtures were Fulham and Sheffield United, both of which they won 2-1.
Conclusion
If any team is going to come at City and really give them a good game, it’s going to be Leeds United. Marcelo Bielsa will want to prove to the world that his team are capable of pulling off a really impressive upset, even if it does mean they’re left a little bit vulnerable at the back. Alas, we think they’ll be able to find the right balance, ensuring they stay in the game right until the final few minutes – but we still believe City will be the ones to walk away with the win.
Our official scoreline prediction is going to be 1-0 Manchester City, meaning we will stick with the under 2.5 goals market – but that doesn’t mean this isn’t going to be incredibly entertaining
Verdict: Back the home win at odds of 2/7 and the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 7/4 (All odds are taken from bet365).
