Prediction & odds for the game: Tottenham (15/8) v Manchester United (29/20) – ST is backing the away win
When: Sunday, 11th April @ 4.30pm K.O
Where: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United meet this weekend in a game that could have huge consequences for both sides in the Premier League this season.
Tottenham
We could easily be watching the final stages of Jose Mourinho’s tenure as Tottenham Hotspur manager, and it’d be some kind of cruel irony if his final game in charge came against former side Manchester United. That seems a bit too outlandish but in reality, Spurs need to win the majority of their remaining fixtures if they want to finish in the top four. Sure, they could win the League Cup, but that one piece of silverware isn’t going to change the status quo for Jose.
Wins over Crystal Palace and Aston Villa helped to steady the ship for Spurs in the last few weeks, but after being knocked out of the Europa League by Dinamo Zagreb and being beaten by Arsenal in the North London derby, the worries started to grow. Newcastle United didn’t help matters last weekend by taking a surprise point off of Mourinho’s men on Tyneside.
Manchester United
Manchester United are stable right now and that’s probably the best way we could describe them. They’re still in the hunt to win the Europa League and they look set to cement their status as the second best team in English football, even if they’re a fair distance behind runaway leaders Manchester City. There are still many twists and turns that could happen along the way but as we look ahead to the summer transfer window, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must be feeling pretty confident.
Outside of Leicester knocking them out of the FA Cup, United have been going pretty well recently. They beat AC Milan over two legs in the Europa Leauge, edged past West Ham and Brighton in the Premier League and seemed quite comfortable in a 2-0 UEL win over Granada.
Conclusion
We’re expecting this to be a pretty tense encounter and more often than not, it’s understandable to confuse ‘tense’ for ‘boring’. We’re not sure this is going to have the same kind of fire or electricity that their last meeting did earlier on in the campaign, but both sides have improved in parts and should be tighter at the back. The expectation on our end is that one goal is going to be enough to settle this, and we think United will be the ones to get it.
Therefore, our official scoreline prediction is 1-0 Manchester United, ensuring we hit the under 2.5 goals bracket.
Verdict: Back the away win at odds of 29/20 and the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 10/11 (All odds are taken from bet365).
