Prediction and odds for the game: West Ham (2/1) vs Leicester (11/8)
We are backing the draw at odds of 23/10
When: Sunday, 11th April 2021, kick-off 14:05
Where: The London Stadium
On Sunday afternoon, West Ham and Leicester go head-to-head at the London Stadium, in what could be a pivotal game in the race for the Champions League spots in the Premier League.
West Ham
David Moyes’ team has been the surprise package of the Premier League this season. The Hammers are currently fourth-place in the table, but the race for the top-six, let alone the top-four is a tight one with the league’s top eight teams all in contention for the Champions League berths.
The Irons are just two points clear of fifth-place London rivals, Chelsea, so they must keep picking up victories. However, West Ham have an inconsistent recent record in the Premier League, as they have won just two of their previous five league outings. That record is understandable considering that during that period the Hammers faced trips to the league’s top-two in Manchester City and Manchester United.
One of the key factors in West Ham’s European challenge has been the Irons home form, as they have won five of their last seven league outings at the London Stadium. Moyes team have been prolific in front of goal on home soil of late in the top-flight, scoring at least two goals scored in five of their last six matches.
Leicester
The Foxes look to be in a healthy position to qualify for the Champions League. However, their recent inconsistent form, very similar to West ham’s recent run, has brought back memories of last season’s dramatic collapse when Brendan Rodgers team finished fifth-place. The team from the Midlands will be keen to avoid another such slip-up. Last time out, Leicester suffered a 2-0 defeat at league leaders Manchester City.
One of Leicester’s main strengths this season has been their away form. The Foxes are undefeated in ten Premier League matches on their travels, having also lost just one of their last 15 away games in the English top-flight. The visitors have been relatively prolific on their travels in the Premier League of late, as they have scored at least two goals in seven of their last 12 outings.
Talking about goals, Nigerian international striker Kelechi Iheanacho has been in good scoring form, as the former Manchester City forward has scored seven goals in his last five appearances in all competitions.
Conclusion
The two team’s recent form has been similar and both will be going out for the victory. There is not much between these two teams, so we are backing this game to finish in an entertaining draw. The other bet we are backing is over 2.5 goals, as both teams pose a big attacking threat, even if the Hammers will be without Influential forward Michail Antonio.
Verdict: We are backing the draw at odds of 23/10 and/or over 2.5 goals at evens. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
