Liverpool have a mountain to climb against Real Madrid as they prepare for what they hope will be another famous European night at Anfield.

Liverpool Football Club have been through some tough times throughout the course of the campaign and while injuries are largely to blame for that, there needs to be some responsibility taken by the manager and the players. Still, as we look ahead to the rest of the season it’s clear to see there is still a lot left to fight for – and holding out hope for a Champions League miracle is one of those things to get excited about.

It was always going to be important for Liverpool to bounce back after the 3-1 defeat in the first leg, and while it may have taken them a while to get going, they eventually overcame the challenge of Aston Villa at the weekend to register a 2-1 win. Given the rotation that Jurgen Klopp implemented, we can’t imagine they’ll have too many additional fitness concerns.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid are always going to be seen as one of the favourites to win the Champions League and even though they aren’t at their very best, they have a whole lot of momentum on their side and it’s hard to ignore that. From La Liga to the Champions League they just seem to be operating at a different level to the one they’ve been at in recent years, and it should be exciting to see what they can produce tomorrow night.

El Clasico would’ve been the last fixture Real would’ve wanted to see on their schedule before their vital second leg, but such is the unpredictable nature of the football season. In the end they were able to outlast rivals Barcelona and win 2-1, although there may be a few tired legs for the Liverpool game as a result.

Conclusion

The Reds are attempting to overturn a 3-1 deficit and against Real Madrid that’s always going to be tough – but we’d argue it’ll be even harder knowing that the Anfield faithful won’t be in attendance. We do think this is going to be a game absolutely littered with drama and tension, with Real clinging on at different points to try and salvage their semi-final spot. In the end we do believe Liverpool will win on the night, but they won’t do enough to go through on aggregate.

Our official scoreline prediction is going to be 2-1 Liverpool, ensuring we hit the over 2.5 goals marker – so buckle up.
