After a difficult campaign, Southampton head into the penultimate game of the Premier League campaign with very little to play for this season. Leeds United
Marcelo Bielsa’s team have experienced a highly positive return to the English top-flight this season. The Whites will kick off this game in tenth-place, but if results go their way in their final two gameweeks the team from Yorkshire could finish as high as eighth-place, which would be one position short of European qualification. They have been difficult to beat in recent months, as just one defeat in their last nine league matches illustrates.
The visitor’s recent performances have been impressive, as they have recorded a 3-1 home win over Tottenham and last time out hammered Burnley 4-0 at Turf Moor. Spanish forward Rodrigo looks to have finally found his feet in front of goal, as he has scored three goals in his last two appearances for the Yorkshire outfit.
Leeds have been inconsistent on their travels this season in the Premier League. However, they do head into this clash on the back of three wins in their last four away outings. Bielsa’s team have also been prolific on their travels in the top-flight of late, as they have scored at least twice in six of their last nine away games in the Premier League.
Conclusion
Southampton’s form has turned around slightly of late, so they won’t be easy opponents for Leeds. However, we believe that the visitors have the momentum to come away from this clash with all three points. The other bet we are backing is over 2.5 goals, as both teams seem to have found their shooting boots of late.
