Prediction and odds for the game: West Ham (31/20) vs Leicester (7/4)
We are backing the draw at odds of 12/5
When: Monday, 23rd August 2021, Kick-off 20:00
Where: The London Stadium
On Monday night, West Ham host Leicester at the London Stadium, in a big Premier League encounter.
West Ham
The Hammers kicked off their new campaign with a creditable 4-2 win over Newcastle after going behind. The won continued the Irons good form from last season, as David Moyes team are now unbeaten in four league outings. In fact, they have recorded three consecutive victories in the Premier League. Their attacking prowess has been illustrated in their recent wins, as they have scored at least twice in their last three matches.
The Hammers recent attacking displays have contributed to their being over 2.5 goals scored in eight of their last 11 games in the Premier League. West Ham have been inconsistent on home soil of late in the Premier League. However, they have managed to claim victory in five of their last eight outings league matches at the London Stadium.
The Hammers may well line up with the same starting line-up that started the win over Newcastle. Their only fitness doubt is full-back Arthur Masuaku.
Leicester
Brendan Rodgers team kicked off the new Premier League with a solid 1-0 win over Wolves at the King Power Stadium. It was a welcome start to the campaign after a poor end to the 2020/21 campaign in the Premier League. The team from the Midlands ended last season’s league campaign with a run of three defeats in their last four outings. At the heart of those defeats were poor defensive displays, as they conceded at least two goals in those end of season losses.
The Foxes recent away form has been inconsistent in the Premier League, as the visitors have claimed just one victory in their previous four league matches on their travels. That one victory came at last season’s runners-up Manchester United. Their recent away games in the top-flight have certainly not lacked goals, as both teams have scored in their last seven matches on their travels in the Premier League.
The Foxes lack of defensive solidity towards the end of the campaign was affected by injuries to key defenders. That is no different now, as the visitors could head into this clash without James Justin, Wesley Fofana and Jonny Evans through injury, while summer signing Ryan Bertrand is likely to miss out due to COVID-19.
Conclusion
These two teams are well-matched and it could be a close game and exciting encounter, as both teams offer a significant attacking threat. We do fancy the draw in this clash, as there isn’t much between the two sides. The other bet we recommend is over 2.5 goals scored due to both team’s attacking abilities.
Our Pick: We are backing the draw at odds of 12/5 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
