Prediction and odds for the game: Chelsea (4/7) vs Manchester United (5/1)
We are backing the home win
When: Sunday 28 November 2021, Kick-off 16:30
Where: Stamford Bridge
On Sunday afternoon, Chelsea will look to maintain their position at the top of the Premier League table, as the Blues welcome Manchester United to Old Trafford.
Chelsea
The Blues are in red hot form and last time out hammered Italian giants Juventus 4-0 in the Champions League. The win came at a cost though, as Ben Chilwell went off injured, with suggestions that the full-back will likely miss at least the rest of the year.
Thomas Tuchel’s team are undefeated in six matches in the English top-flight, having recorded five victories. A 3-0 win at Leicester in their last league outing means that the European champions have scored at least three goals in six of their last nine matches in the Premier League.
At the other end of the field, the league leaders have conceded just one goal in their previous five matches in the English top-flight. That recent defensive record is unsurprising, as no team in the Premier League has conceded fewer goals than Chelsea this season.
The Blues have a strong recent home record in the Premier League, as they have won five of their last seven league outings at Stamford Bridge. Tuchel’s team has also scored at least two goals in six of their last nine home games in the English top-flight.
Manchester United
The Red Devils produced a disciplined performance to produce a 2-0 win at Villarreal to book their place in the last-16. The win comes on the back of the sacking of head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last weekend.
Michael Carrick oversaw the win in Spain and will once again be in charge of this game, as the club look for a long-term successor for Solskjaer. The main reason for the sacking of Solskjaer was a terrible recent run of form. United have won just once in their last seven Premier League games, having also lost four of their previous five matches in the English top-flight.
The visitors have been truly woeful in defence in recent weeks, as United have conceded at least two goals in four of their previous five outings in the English top-flight.
United’s away results have been mixed of late, but they have won against Tottenham while suffering defeat against both Leicester and Watford in their last three matches.
Conclusion
Chelsea are flying under the expert tutelage of Thomas Tuchel. It is difficult to see them dropping points. Manchester United certainly looked far more disciplined and well-organised last time out than in recent months.
We think that United will attempt to set up the same way they did against Villarreal and attempt to frustrate Chelsea. The problem is that the Blues are a far superior team than the Spanish side and they should have enough to see off a sturdier United. We are backing a narrow Chelsea win and over 2.5 goals scored.
Our Tips: We are backing the home win at odds of 4/7 and/or over 2.5 goals at odds of 4/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
