Prediction and odds for the game: Manchester City (2/7) vs West Ham (9/1)
We are backing both teams to score at odds of 10/11
When: Sunday 28 November 2021, Kick-off 14:00
Where: The Etihad Stadium
On Sunday afternoon, Manchester City host West Ham at the Etihad Stadium, in what could prove to be a pivotal game for both teams in the Premier League.
Manchester City
The Citizens will go into this game high on confidence after a 2-1 midweek win over PSG in the Champions League. The victory coupled with results elsewhere in the group sealed City’s place in the last-16 of Europe’s elite competition.
Back in the Premier League and Pep Guardiola’s team has won four of their last five league outings, having scored at least two goals in each of the four victories. Last time out the reigning Premier League champions defeated Everton 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
Despite their recent good run of league form, City are still second-place in the table, trailing league leaders and European champions Chelsea by three points.
City have a decent recent home record in the Premier League, as they have won five of their previous seven top-flight matches at the Etihad Stadium. Guardiola’s team has built that recent strong home record on a solid defensive foundation, as they have kept clean sheets in six of their last seven home matches in the league.
West Ham
The Hammers are experiencing a promising campaign and currently occupy the last Champions League qualification berth for next season. However, David Moyes’ team did slip up last time out by losing 1-0 at Wolves. The defeat ended a four-game winning run for the visitors in the Premier League.
The visitors recent Premier League matches have been high-scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in five of their previous eight games in the English top-flight.
West Ham have a respectable recent away record in the Premier League, as they have won six of their previous nine league matches on their travels. The defeat at Wolves last time out also ended a three-game winning run away from home in the English top-flight for the Irons.
Moyes’ team have not been great defensively on their travels of late, as the visitors have kept just two clean sheets in their last 13 away matches in the Premier League.
The recent history of this fixture does not bode well for an away victory, as the Hammers have failed to beat the Citizens in the last 13 meetings between the two teams.
Conclusion
West Ham look like they could be creditable challenges for the top-four this season. However, on current form, Manchester City are likely to be too good for the Hammers. The home win offers very little value though.
Instead, we are backing both teams to score. City are highly potent in front of goal, while West Ham have enough quality in attack to cause the Citizens problems at the back. We think there will be goals in this game and we are going to take a punt on over 3.5 goals scored, as it offers decent value.
Our Tips: We are backing both teams to score at odds of 10/11 and/or over 3.5 goals at odds of 13/10. (All odds are taken from Bet356)
