On Wednesday night, two of the most exciting teams in the Bundesliga go head-to-head at the BayArena, as Bayer Leverkusen host Hoffenheim.

Life as a Bayer Leverkusen fan is a massive rollercoaster. The start of the new campaign has been no different after Die Werkself form has ebbed and flowed in recent months.

The last two games have been great for Gerardo Seoane’s team, as Bayer head into this clash on the back of consecutive defeats. A 1-o defeat Ferencvaros in gameweek six of the Europa League was meaningless in the end, as Bayer had already topped their group.

However, a 5-2 hammering at Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga was rather more mystifying. Despite the defeat, Bayer are still well placed in the German top-flight table, third-place, but just a point ahead of Wednesday night’s visitors who are currently in the final qualification spot for the Champions League.

Leverkusen have been prolific of late in the Bundesliga, as they are the second-highest goalscorers behind reigning champions Bayern Munich. One of the reasons for their high goal tally this season is the form of Czech Republic forward Patrik Schick. He has scored six times in two league outings while scoring 14 goals in just 12 Bundesliga appearances this season.

Hoffenheim

Sebastian Hoeness certainly has his team in good shape after a slight inconsistent campaign last season. The visitors have motored up the Bundesliga table of late. An excellent 2-1 win at surprise-package Freiburg means that the visitors are now on a four-game winning streak. They have also managed to score at least twice in their last four outings in the German top-flight. In fact, only the top three teams in the Bundesliga have scored more goals than Hoffenheim this season.

Although Hoffenheim have not been the best travellers (three away wins in 16 outings in the Bundesliga), their recent away form seems to have improved vastly, as they have now recorded two consecutive wins on the road in the German top-flight.

The visitors also scored two goals in both of their away victories. Hoffenheim away games usually guarantee goals, as there have been over 2.5 goals scored in six of their previous eight away games.

Conclusion

This clash has the potential to be highly entertaining between two of the league’s best attacking teams. We are leaning in the direction of a home win, though, as we feel that Bayer may just have the edge in attack in this clash. The other bet we are backing is over 3.5 goals scored, simply due to the prolific nature of both teams.
