Prediction and odds for the game: Nottingham Forest (5/1) vs Arsenal (8/13)
We are backing Eddie Nketiah to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 6/4
When: Sunday 9 January 2022, Kick-off 17:10
Where: The City Ground
On Sunday evening, Nottingham Forest host Arsenal at the City Ground in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Nottingham Forest
The team from the Midlands seem to have a genuine chance of making the Championship play-offs this season. Steve Cooper’s team are ninth-place in the table, six points off the all-important play-off spots. However, they have a game in hand on sixth-place Huddersfield Town in the play-off race.
Back-to-back league defeats to play-off rivals Middlesbrough and Huddersfield have rather hindered their hopes of climbing back into the league’s top-six. Forest had a good recent home record before the 1-0 defeat against Huddersfield in their last home match. They were unbeaten in five matches at the City Ground in all competitions.
Nottingham Forest have been poor in the FA Cup of late, as they have lost six of their last eight matches in the competition, including losing four of their last five matches in the competition.
However, they do have a decent recent home record in the FA Cup, winning three of their last four home matches in the competition. One of those wins was a 4-2 win over Arsenal back in 2018.
Arsenal
Mikel Arteta’s team have been in good form of late and look in good shape to stay in the Premier League’s top-four. However, they did suffer a blow last time out, as the Gunners lost 2-1 against reigning champions Manchester City, with Rodri scoring a last-gasp winner in a controversial encounter. The defeat ended a run of five straight wins for the team from north London in all competitions.
The Gunners have won their last two away games, scoring nine goals in the process, beating Leeds 4-1 and Norwich 5-1 on their travels.
Arsenal have proven difficult to beat of late in the FA Cup, as they have suffered just two defeats in their last 16 outings in the competition. One of those defeats was in their last outing in the competition, as they went down 1-0 at Southampton. The other loss was the loss against Forest.
The visitors will miss the likes of Thomas Partey and Nicolas Pepe, who are on international duty at the African Cup of Nations.
Conclusion
Nottingham Forest seems to be going in the right direction this season. Arsenal are also in an upward trajectory. This should be a good encounter, with lots of goals, so we are backing over 2.5 goals scored. The other bet we are recommending is Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah to score anytime.
Our Tips: We are backing Eddie Nketiah to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 6/4 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
