Prediction and odds for the game: Arsenal (3/10) vs Burnley (10/1)

We are backing under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 11/4

When: Sunday 23 January 2022, Kick-off 14:00

Where: The Emirates Stadium

On Sunday afternoon, Arsenal and Burnley clash at the Emirates Stadium in a vital clash in the race for the top-four spots and fight for survival in the Premier League.

Arsenal

Things have gone slightly south for Arsenal of late, as Mikel Arteta’s team head into this clash on the back of a four-game winless run, which includes suffering three defeats. A 2-0 home defeat by Liverpool in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final saw the Gunners eliminated from the competition.

Only one of those four winless games came in the Premier League, where the team from north London are still well placed to challenge for a top-four finish this season. The home side is sixth-place in the table, but just two points outside the Champions League spots, with two games in hand on current occupants West Ham.

Their recent form in the Premier League has also been decent. A 2-1 home defeat by reigning champions and league leaders Manchester City in their last league game ended a four-match winning run in the English top-flight.

Burnley

Due to several postponements, Burnley have not played a Premier League since 2nd January. Their last outing in any competition was a 2-1 home defeat in the FA Cup third round against Championship Huddersfield on 8th January.

It is fair to say that the Clarets have some catching up to do in the English top-flight. Sean Dyche’s team is currently bottom of the table, five points adrift of 17th place Norwich.

However, the north west outfit also has five games in hand on the team from Norfolk. They also have three games in hand on the two teams above them Newcastle and Watford.

A few decent results could see the visitors climb out of the relegation zone. The problem for the Clarets is that it is hard to see where their next points are coming from. The visitors are winless in seven Premier League games, having suffered defeats in three of their last four outings.

This season’s main affliction has been a familiar one for the Clarets in the past, in that they have not scored enough goals. Only Norwich have scored fewer goals than the north west side this season in the English top-flight.

Conclusion

We do believe that Arsenal should have enough quality to see off the Clarets. However, the home win offers no value at all. Instead, we are backing draw/Arsenal, as Burnley have one of the best defences in the bottom half of the table, but we believe they will concede eventually.

The other bet we are backing is under 2.5 goals scored, as Arsenal have not been great in attack of late and as previously talked about Burnley are still relatively strong in defence. The Clarets look unlikely to threaten the home goal, especially without Maxwell Cornet and Ashley Barnes.

Our Tips: We are backing the draw/Arsenal at odds of 11/4 and/or under 2.5 goals at odds of 11/10. (All odds are taken from Bet365)
