The days up to a transfer deadline day are always full of speculation and rumours. We are now into the last few days of the January 2022 transfer window. With the transfer window slamming shut on Monday, which high-profile players could be on the move in the near future:
Luiz Diaz (Porto to Liverpool, £45million)
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool have agreed a fee of around £45million with Porto for the Colombian international. Reports suggest that the club has arranged a medical for the winger in Argentina, as he is on international duty with his national team.
Tottenham looked to be in pole position to sign the highly-rated South American star. However, Liverpool look to have now hijacked the deal. Diaz of course was set to join the Reds rivals Everton in the summer, only for the Toffees FFP problems to prevent the switch. It seems Diaz will be playing his football on Merseyside after all.
Adama Traore (Wolves to Barcelona, loan deal)
The Spanish international looks set to return to Barcelona, initially on loan until the end of the season without an option to buy. Traore had been strongly linked with a move to Tottenham. However, reports suggest that Tottenham were unwilling to meet Wolves mooted asking price of around £26million. Spurs are believed to have attempted to sign Traore on loan and also bid £15million plus former Wolves star Matt Doherty.
Traore has just 18 months left on his contract at Molineux and there are no signs of him signing a new deal with the Midlands club. He is likely to leave Wolves permanently next summer, whether that be to Barcelona or elsewhere.
Dele Alli (Tottenham to Everton, loan)
Alli has struggled for form for the last 18 months and is out of favour at Tottenham. The north London club will allow the England international to make a temporary move. Several Premier League clubs are believed to be interested in signing the former MK Dons star, including Newcastle and Burnley
However, reports suggest that if Frank Lampard is named as Everton’s new head coach, Alli will join the Merseyside on loan until the end of the season. The 25-year-old needs a move to revive his flashing career. Lampard has never hidden his admiration for Alli, so the move would make sense all around.
Bruno Guimaraes (Lyon to Newcastle, £33million)
Reports suggest that the Brazilian midfielder will undergo a medical in Brazil ahead of completing a £33million move to the north east club. The 24-year-old is a highly-rated central midfielder, who many of European football’s biggest clubs have scouted in the past.
Signing the Guimaraes would be something of a coup and a major boost in their fight for survival in the Premier League. If he does complete his move then he is likely to make his Premier League debut against Everton on February 5th. The game could be a massive one for both strugglers.
