On Saturday evening, Inter host Milan in what could be a massive Derby della Madonnina when it comes to the destination of this season’s Scudetto.

The Nerazzurri once again look in good shape to claim the Serie A title this season. A late 2-1 home win over Venezia last time out means that Simone Inzaghi’s team are undefeated in their last 14 matches in the Italian top-flight.

The good recent form has Inter top of the table and four points clear of both Napoli in second and Saturday night’s third-place opponents. The Nerazzurri also have a game in hand on both their supposed title rivals.

Inter have been the most prolific team in Serie A this season, despite losing last season’s top scorer Romelu Lukaku in the summer. The Belgian’s replacement Edin Dzeko has proven a decent replacement, as the veteran forward has scored nine goals in Serie A this season.

The Italian champions are undefeated in their last 28 home games in Serie A. The Nerazzurri are also on a seven-game winning streak on home soil in the Italian top-flight. One of the key factors in Inter’s recent stellar home form is their potent attack, as Inzaghi’s team has scored at least two goals in six of their last seven home games in Serie A.

Milan

The Rossoneri are drinking in the last chance saloon when it comes to the Scudetto. Anything but a win against the Nerazzurri would make it very difficult to claim the Italian top-flight title this season. If Milan loses they may then start looking nervously over their shoulders at the teams below them in the table.

Taking just a point from their last two games in Serie A was not exactly a great way to head into a break from domestic football. A 0-0 home draw against Juventus was not a terrible result considering the Bianconeri’s recent form. However, a 2-1 home defeat by Spezia in the previous game was a highly disappointing result.

The recent history of this fixture is very much against the Rossoneri, as they have won just one of the last eight meetings with their neighbours, suffering six defeats in the process. The reverse fixture finished 1-1 and arguably Milan would take a repeat of that result in this encounter.

Conclusion

In recent seasons, Inter have developed a habit of winning or picking up results, even though they have not produced a great performance. We are backing the Nerazzurri to record another victory in this clash and move a step closer to retaining their title of Italian champions.
